Stay away
I installed two of these on a new booster pump installation. Both did not leak upon installation but within 5 days the first failed and within 8 days the second failed. Both split completely. One was attached to a pvc fitting and one to a SS nipple. This is only the 5th pump I have installed but I have never had a threaded pvc fitting split. Both were on the discharge side of the pump and fortunately the pump seems to still be working even though it drained my 3000 gallon storage tank. Spend a couple more buck and get SS or Galv. unions!!!

Buy Spears Brand Parts for Quality
We use the 2" Spears unions for sprinkler and pool plumbing repair. After using the imported junk (available from our suppliers or home repair stores) for years, we finally discovered the Spears brand and learned that there is a big difference in quality and usefullness. One trick we use regularly is to configure a hybrid union having a socket side and an FIP side from a socket union and a female union.You can only do this because the parts are precision made and have consistent threads. There's no waste because the parts left over make another hybrid union.
