Also useful for controlling thermal actuators in zone sys

I used it to control thermal actuators in a 5-zone hydronic heating system, instead of for controlling zone valves. It works great and makes wiring easy. Thermal actuators only require 1 watt each of power so the two built-in 24VAC 40watt transformers are overkill for my application, but they would be perfect for a system with zone valves. High quality construction. The electrical connection terminals and sufficient space in the enclosure make it very easy to wire. The control lights showing when each zone thermostat is calling for heat (yellow) and then when zone pump is switched on (red) are highly visible and and allow easy monitoring of the system. It is also cheaper than other zone controllers. Note: There was already an external 24VAC transformer installed for the system so I fed it into this controller and am not using the included two internal transformers. This allowed me to skip wiring the controller to line voltage.

Upgraded from 4 to 5 zones

Upgraded from a four zone zvc to a 5. Flawless 13 years out of the 4 zone taco still works perfectly. Expect no less from the new one.

I would buy this product again, but hopefully not any time s

tied in five thermostats and five zone valves. Easy to do and worked perfectly. Could't ask for better functionality. As the unit turns the boiler on with any call for heat, I do not understand why you have to jump two terminals. In my opinion, they should jump it at the factory, and have you remove the jumpers if you are going to use the switch on the zone valve. A very minor nitpick.

Solid part!

I bought this as a spare part for my boiler system that is 20 years old, because parts like this are not readily available in remote Wyoming.

ASK A QUESTION

Q: Can I use this unit with no valves and use it to control two pumps? I plan to add valves at a later date, but for now I need it to just turn on a pump.

No this application would not work. For this type of application you would want a switching relay instead of a control module.

Q: Does this controller have built in 120v to 24v transformers or do the transformers have to be purchased separately?

Q: Will this Taco ZVC405-4 work with Thermal Actuator for Mr. PEX Manifolds (4 Wire) (SKU: 512070) I would like to connect this to the thermal actuators if possible. That way I can have 1 pump for 5 zones in my radiant heat system. Will this work? Thanks, Dave

Yes, you can do this. Just leave two of the zones unwired for the time being.
