The function of the Caleffi 553542A is to automatically fill and regulate the pressure in a hydronic system to a pre-set value. Water flow to the system will automatically stop when the pre-set value is reached and fill up with more water if required.

Very accurate, stopped excessive relief valve blow-off
Tried many boiler feeds and this is the only one that stopped relief valve from blowing due to inaccurate feed pressure. Includes internal shutoff valve and pressure gauge port. Gauge was not needed as pressure set calibration is very accurate. The only drawback is that you need a radiator spud wrench to attach fitting to input, which seems weird and unnecessary.

Don't buy
Unlike other autofill valves, there is no way to really hold the high pressure end tight to screw a nipple into it. It has a union for easy replacement but that is simply going to turn when you try to screw a nipple into it

Perfect Reducing Valve
Just changed this valve after 10 yrs of use - otherwise it was working swell all those years. Highly recommend as it is easy to turn the knob on bottom and to me it is the top of the line product.

I would buy again, however it would be the one with a guage.
Used on a home boiler system. Works as advertised. I just thought the dial setting face was a gauge and was not. Installed a gauge and now is perfect.

Reliability and Quality
Well designed, very reliable and high quality. Precise adjustment eliminates problems with pressure balancing. Includes integral stop valve and pressure gauge port. The only caveat is that you will need a spud/radiator wrench to attach to the proprietary input fitting.
