The tekmar Snow / Ice Sensor 090 and Snow/Ice Sensor Socket 091 are used with tekmar controls 665, 667, and 664 to automatically detect snow or ice on a driveway or walkway. The Snow / Ice Sensor Socket must be installed directly in the snow melt slab, halfway between the heating elements or pipes. For installation details see data brochure D 090.

OK Replacement Snow Sensor
The Sensor was a replacement for a like item that developed an internal open connection after about 10 years use. Given the cost of the sensor that kind of fault is very disappointing! The new sensor works well. The only difference is that the cable on the new one is much stiffer than the cable on the old one, giving some minor difficulty in pulling it through the conduit. A little wire lube cured that problem.

Easy replacement
I crossed my fingers when I went to replace only the sensor portion thinking it might not match up. The fit was perfect with the existing (cemented in place) casing.
