Nothing beats a Weil Mclain

I replaced my 35 year old Weil Mclain oil fired boiler with a CGI natural gas boiler 3 years ago and it is amaizing! Like someone else said, just turn the stat and you have heat. It does have one drawback. The stack noise when the exhaust blower is on is pretty loud. I was warned but thought it was worth the risk. So any suggestions on how to reduce this noise would be most appreciated. One other small thing; The other morning, I heard the boiler short cycle over and over again. I quickly found out it was a $31 air pressure switch which was very visible and easy to replace. Just remove the front panel, look for the double -1/4" tubes and replace the pod they are connected to. Still very satisfied!

Great Unit

I bought this boiler to replace a very unreliable but expensive "high efficient" 90%+ unit. Only, 8 years old. Mercifully, its aluminum block cracked and I was forced to quit pouring money into it. Every heating season...always something. This unit was very easy to re-fit into my 4 zone home system. Reliability has been rock solid. It uses off the shelf replacement parts. I settled on this unit after a good bit of research and couldn't be happier. I should have bought a Weil-Mclain CGI series in the first place. Live and learn.

Pleased - but I had one surprise.

Used this to replace an aged oil burner. The fact that it could tie into the existing venting was awesome, and easy replacement. I head read about exhaust/vent noise in other reviews. Not sure what people were experiencing. The venting is quieter than my old recirculating pump... One thing not highlighted in the instructions - there is a 1/2" npt hole in the top (for automatic air vent). It is hidden by insulation, and I found it by water pouring out... I guess I should have gone looking for it, but it let itself be known. Very satisfied.

I would buy this Boiler again

I have had this boiler in my home since 2006, and I have never had a problem. The only thing I have done with this boiler is turn the thermostats up or down, and it has performed flawlessly.

The way I plumbed my boiler allowed me to direct the water flow in any direction to assist in purging the air from the system. You will also still need to bleed each radiator individually.

This unit can produce a maximum of 122,000 BTU's. To get an estimate of how many BTU's you need in your home, please use our BTU Calculator ( http://www.pexsupply.com/pex/control/BTUCalculator ). For a precise number, we would recommend that you perform a heat loss calculation.
