White Rogers thermostat 1f78-151 no backlight.

Some of the info on this thermostat is wrong. Mine requires pressing "time" and "run" at the same time, which bring up a new menu. Select "up arrow" for on. "Run" program and test you results.

Worst thermostat for wiring space

I've had two of these on my shelf for 3-4 years. Installed one today where a lady's heat had failed. There is insufficient space inside the unit for basic connections. Those wire loops in the photo are only about 3/8" long. Couldn't roll the wire nut upward because it would interfere with the up-down temp controller. The other one goes in the trash, brand new never opened.

I use these at all my rentals and my own home.

Easy to use. Inexpensive. Highly recommended. Rated four stars and not five because of the rare reliability issue (generally very reliable but not 100%).

Very Satisfied

Original (2004) White-Rodgers 1F78 thermostat became problematic at onset of winter (upper arrow stopped responding). Found that Emerson was still making nearly identical product. Swap out was relatively easy for DIY; only challenge being tight space within which to insert wires. Works like a charm. Arrived one day after ordering, tremendous

Used in the basement and garage.

Installed one in the basement and one in the garage. Although it is nothing fancy it does the job. Easy install.

feels cheap -- no back light

Never had a thermostat with no backlight. Up and down push buttons are cheap plastic and don't feel secure. Had I known how cheap it was, I would not have bought it.

You can re-enter hold mode by pressing the 'Hold' button. This allows you to override any programmed temperatures indefinitely. Pressing 'Run' returns the thermostat to its program schedule.

Q: Just had this installed last weekend. We used the A/C and everything was fine. We turned the "fan" on and it will only run for 2 minutes every hour on the hour. Is there a setting to change this or something we can do to have the fan run all the time when we aren't using heat or a/c?
