Awsome - Easy to Use - Perfect

This is the best basic non-programmable thermostat I have ever installed or used. I have put in several in businesses, churches, my home(s), relative's homes, and friend's homes. I like it that much. It does a much better job of temperature sensing than cheaper (no-name) brands that you can buy for less at the local hardware store. Therefore, the temperature is maintained much more evenly, making it obviously more comfortable. By far one of my favorite features is the filter alarm. How do you know if your filter needs replacing at 2 or 3 or 4 months? It all depends on how long the fan has run. This thermostat keeps track of the fan running time and you can adjust the time interval on the filter alarm for your environment. Not even the expensive Honeywell thermostats have this feature. (Most of the White-Rodgers / Emerson's do!) Another nice feature is that it maintains separate heat and cool set temperatures. Many thermostats, especially cheaper ones, have only one set temperature, making it very likely, for example, that when you switch from cool to heat that the furnace will come on immediately. With this thermostat you can set your favorite temps for both, for example, cool to 74 degrees and heat to 68. That way when you switch between them you don't have to change anything else. It is easy to use and hides all the un-needed controls behind an easy to access panel. This makes it simple for even little kids or anyone else to use. It never beeps at you and has held up well for years. I'm currently buying two more for my new house!

Great themostat!!!

I had this thermostat at a house I was renting. Had to move and bought a little house with a horrible thermostat in it. Brand new, well known brand...but switches so small and no back light...had to use a flashlight to read the temp numbers!!! So bought this, at a good price, and had it put in. I love the simplicity and features. Don't need a fancy programmable one, this one is GREAT!!!

No, this unit does not seem to be heat pump compatible. The SKU: 1F89-211 is a non-programmable single stage thermostat that would be heat pump compatible.

You can reset the thermostat by pressing the "up" and "down" buttons simultaneously and moving the SYSTEM switch from OFF to HEAT at the same time. This also resets the factory defaults to the configuration menu.

Q: How do you turn this completely to off? What are the slide switches inside the unit for? Does one of these turn off completely? I don't always want to use by just turning temp up or down...for instance if I am to be gone foe a few days and I don't want the AC to come on at all. Thanks

Q: what nis the little switch for in box

I think you are referring to the little black switch located where the wires attach to the terminal above it. If this is what you are talking about to the left of the switch you see (elect and to right right you gas ) This is the position the switch is in for the type of system you have. If you have electric heat the switch is to the left. If gas heat the position is to the right. If you have this thermostat an instruction book should've came with it. hopefully this helps you

Update to question: This is a switch to energize fan for call of heat. If your system is heat or heat pump that requires the thermostat to energize fan immediately on call for heat put switch in electric position. If you have a computer go to pexsupply.com , locate thermostat IF86-344, click on it and when it goes to it click on manuals, then click on installation instructions and it will tell you all about operation. Their will be a picture of inside of thermostat and to left it will explain installation of it
