The purpose of the pump stand is to reduce potential jamming caused by debris, rocks, and other sediments. For good measure, I vacuumed all the debris out of the sump before installing the new pump and did not use the stand. I had just clear water, gravel and sand in the sump.
Some "thicker" materials may clog the pump resulting in flooding. The only thing going into the pit should be water.
It simply sits on top, and you secure the discharge pipe to the vertical piece shown in the photo with a zip tie. Bet, Colin Sent from my iPad
I used it on my install and would recommend it to keep it up off of the mud and crud in the bottom of the pit. You can also cut some PVC pipe and insert in the bottom to make the stand taller to help with the install.
The pump's weight and the metal clamp around the discharge pipe.
It doesn't. It is just a stand with lots of holes that lifts the pump about 2" off the basin. The weight of the pump keeps it stationary. This way it is sucking water and not denser materials with it.
there is a hose clamp the clams the stand to the discharge pipe.the weight of the pump keeps the pump in the stand
There are screw holes in the unit that match to the pump. Unfortunately, they don't provide the screws. I just set mine on it and it works fine.
