Comments about M12 ProPEX Expansion Tool (Tool Only):

The Milwaukee M12 is the perfect tool for the pro or do-it-yourself homeowner. It's easy to use, fits into tight spaces, lightweight and comfortable to hold. I purchased the 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch expansion heads with the tool. I regret not buying the M18 because the M12 limits the size to 1 inch.
The only problem was waiting for it to arrive. After waiting two weeks, I call Pex Supply and was told my order was sitting there and didn't know why it had'nt been shipped yet. I received it the next day. I also seem to be having a hard time finding expansion pex and fittings in local plumbing supply houses. Most only carry crimp type, so looks like i'm forced to order from Pex Supply and try to keep an adequate supply of fittings and pex in my van for a next day or quick job and not having to wait for fittings to arrive in a few days.

Comments about M12 ProPEX Expansion Tool (Tool Only):

I love the concept/design, but the first one was wonky right out of the box.
It would flash all LED's and not expand, I only expanded about 20 fittings before
it stopped working all together. Pex Supply replaced it after I sent the
other one back to them at my expense.

Disappointed it did not include the graphite grease recommended for it. Added another $20+ dollars plus shipping to the cost. Should have purchased complete kit including heads. I am a DIY homeowner

I don't know why I waited so long to purchase this. I had been using the manual tool. I bought it tool only and use the non autorotate heads and have had no problem, you just need to rotate a little as the tool expands. I would use the larger M12 Batteries, I haven't had much success with the smaller ones. Do not wait any longer, if you use ProPEX you need this tool.

Yeah, I bought it without knowing that. You can get a cheap M12 tool at the
local home improvement that comes with the battery and charger.

Don't understand question.   However, if project is of any significance in size, i.e., replacing galvanized pipe with pex tubing, the battery powered is the only way to go.   The total job may end up costing as much as hiring a plumber BUT you end up with a useful tool for future repairs.   The manual expansion tool is really not adequate, especially for 1" expansions and in tight places where it is difficult to get the leverage needed and rotation of the head.   I purchased the manual tool first and it became quickly apparent that I could not do job with it.  I sold the manual and purchased the battery tool.   I am not a professional plumber but replaced approximately 400 ft of rusting galvanized pipe with pex...including 1", 3/4" and 1/2"  sizes.
I don't recommend tool only from an economic point unless you already have the expansion heads that automatically rotate.

This ProPEX expansion tool works only with PEX-A tubing. It expands the tubing and a ring that you place on the PEX. PEX-A has such exceptional shape recognition that the tubing shrinks back to size around a ProPEX fitting that you must quickly insert into the tubing. A major advantage to using this method is that the fitting has the same inside diameter as the tubing, and you won't lose any flow. The video linked below demonstrates exactly how it works.

It all depends, did you buy it tool only or the complete set with heads. If you bought it tool only as I did, it is just the tool, no heads, charger or battery

                Q:

Does this bare tool only lack the battery and charger? E.g., does it come with all of the expansions heads that normally come in the complete kit? I already have batteries and chargers for other Milwaukee M12 so I don't need more.
