Bad product

Have had 2 units, one lasted 6 months, other 18 months. These are designed right on the edge of failure. In both cases the tank failed. They are expensive yet poorly made. In both cases I took the time to remove the zinc prior to install (and put it back it). A breaker bar and cargo straps were required. This would never come out in a normal installation. Save yourself the problems and figure out how to not use a unit like this. The water damage alone will kill your budget.

Wouldn't honor warranty

I bought this heater to use for dog grooming. I am a one person groomer and it would fit perfectly for my purposes. It arrived damaged and it stopped working just past the second year. With a six year warranty, it should have been covered. I was told that I would have to troubleshoot the problem with the manufacturer. They said because I used it for grooming and it is a residential heater, the six year warranty is void. I did not expect to pay this much for a water heater and not even have it last three years. No support or sympathy. This was not a heavily used heater. My last one worked for eleven years. Not happy.

basic, serviceable

I'll start by saying my use of this water heater is not typical. I'm using it as a buffer tank for a tankless water heater used for both domestic and heating purposes. So I can't comment how it does at heating water. The materials and assembly seem marginal. It's clear the people assembling these don't put much into it. Nothing is quite right, yet everything seems to work. I will add that Supplyhouse needs to do a better job of packaging these for shipment. The manufacturers box is not up to the task. I ordered two of these, one had to go back due to poor insulation (spray foam), the other had a few problems that I was able to sort out myself. A replacement for the first was shipped (excellent customer service) that also had problems. Some from shipping damage, some from quality control/indifferent assembly. For my purpose I decided to keep them and make my modifications. I'd like to see them ship with stainless steel nipples, a better manual and better thought out ports and electronic access areas. No need for things to be sprinkled all around the unit. Just makes placement and future access more difficult. Definitely a buyer beware product that may work well as long as you're not expecting high quality. These might work, but I wouldn't expect them to last all that long based on the obvious lack of effort the manufacturer puts into assembly.
