Featuring a 50-gallon (nominal) tank and a 45,000 BTU gas burner, the GPDT-50 Power Direct Vent delivers a first hour rating of 81 gallons and a recovery rate of 41 gallons per hour. This model features a 0.72 Uniform Energy Factor and carries a 6-year limited warranty.
Environmentally-friendly insulation and factory-installed heat trap nipples reduce heat loss for maximum energy savings.
This ProLine XE water heater is designed with A. O. Smith's superior commercial-grade tank protection. A must have for sealed houses
I never see reviews for water heaters from supplyhouse, my guess is because it's professionals that are ordering and installing with little time to get their customers feedback, but as a homeowner, this water heater is amazing.
We've spent the last several years sealing our older home up pretty good: insulation, vapor barriers, weather sealing. Etc. As a result, things like our bathroom vents and our oven vent are pulling a vacuum on the house, which of course affected our natural draft water heater, pulling exhaust back into the home down through the stack, which is no good. This was the obvious next step, as a power vent would still leave us creating a vacuum on the house overall to get valuable combustion air into the tank's burner system.
Installation is pretty much that of any modern high efficiency furnace or any other closed combustion device.
You have to be meticulous and follow all instructions, but it was a super easy install if you love that kind of stuff.
It isn't anywhere near as noisy as I had anticipated, and the recovery time is actually super impressive. We can take 2 showers back to back that are super hot, while running the dishwasher and a load of laundry, and the recovery time is pretty much wrapped up by the time we get out of the showers and are all dry.
Overall, this is a big win and huge peace of mind for our family to help avoid any dangerous exhaust from backdrafting into the house.
The only complaint was the lead time, but that's out of SupplyHouse's hands, I assume.
