According to the manufacturer, the water heater can be used on well water. With heavy lime in the water, you may want to drain and flush the water heater at least once a year. A KA-90 anode rod may also be a good idea.

This unit will work as long as 76,000 BTUs is sufficient for your project. We also recommend that you get a heat exchanger so you can keep your domestic and heating water separate. This unit will have to be vented with PVC or stainless steel.
Unfortunately there is no warranty extension kit available for this model.
According to the manufacturer, there is a rise required in the venting from the blower so the termination cannot be lower than the blower.

It can be either. Coming out of the unit, I used PVC and then I hooked it to an existing 3" chimney via a 3" PVC elbow that I sanded down to fit over the end of the metal chimney pipe. Then I used 3" PVC for the bulk of the exhaust pipe, terminating it with a 3" to 2" PVC reducer, then a 2" elbow, and finally that connected to the vertex. You can just run PVC staight out and "cap it" with a 90° elbow.
Both my old power vent heater and this Vertex heater use PVC vents. The unit is so efficient you'll be amazed at how little the PVC warms when the exhaust blower is running as most of the heat (energy) goes into the water, not out the vent.
