The state-of-the-art design of the GB142, with integrated controls, is a rare combination of outstanding quality paired with exceptional value. Utilizing advanced condensing technology, the Buderus GB142 Wall-Mounted Boiler maximizes the heating value of every cubic foot of natural gas or liquid propane. All GB142 Boilers now come with the AM10 outdoor reset control and DHW sensor for control of an indirect DHW tank. The GB142 is approved for 3" solid core PVC horizontal and vertical venting.

The small size and minimal clearance requirements of the GB142 Boiler provide tremendous installation flexibility. Thanks to the prefabricated low-loss header, the GB142 Boiler has the fastest installation in the industry. Specially designed with an appropriately sized circulator, this manifold ensures proper flow-rate through the unit. This feature greatly extends the service life of the GB142. By simplifying the piping, the GB142 manifold allows for quicker, easier, and trouble-free installation.

Beware

We've had this unit for almost seven years and it has required numerous repairs, including replacement of the computer. now our plumber informs us that there are at least a dozen connector parts within this unit which have become corroded. he has seen this in all the units he installed. He has discovered that these parts were not manufactured in Germany, but in Korea, and they are all leaking. We are currently dealing with another winter of anxiety because this unit has once again failed. Wish we had read reviews more carefully before purchasing this unit.

Superbly engineered

What's great: - Superbly well engineered and constructed. - Includes outdoor temp sensor system and low-loss manifold assembly, vastly simplifying setup. What would help: - Installation documentation hasn't caught up with AMR-10, so you have to interpret the right installation approach among conflicting instructions. - A full-size installation template is included with the boiler. If this was available on-line, it would help installers to prepare piping, etc ahead of time.

a bad furnace

We installed this furnace in October of 2011. Without exaggeration I would guess that the installer has been out to our home about 15 times trying to get it right. We have a 3200 square foot house with eight zones. Not one room is comfortable when the temp. outside is lower than 30 degrees. If we set a room for 70 degrees it will be lucky to reach 62. When temperatures outside get above 40 it works well. The guy that installed it is fairly knowledgable and is a nice guy but the buderus people don't seem to be helping him very much. I haven't got a lawyer because I really like the installer but we are at our wits end especially for my wife who suffers from the continued cold in our home. I would do anything to get my old inefficient furnace back.

Kudo's to the engineering of this design

Really love the design, low loss header was easy to attach. Directions on how to setup was easy. Must say unit is in only 4 weeks but seems to perform flawlessly. Highly recommend. Will give another review following our winter months.

So far so good!!

I've only had it in service for about a month, but it seems to be pretty nice. Endless hot water, very quite & nice heating. I only have it running at 60% because its not that cold out yet.

Q: I would like to use this boiler for underfloor heating. In addition I would like to use the Uponor Climate Control - Multifunction Hydronic Control to control the entire system. Can the boiler controls(its own control board) work with the Uponor Climate Control system?

The controls on this boiler can work with the Uponor Climate Control system. The Uponor control can control the system, but not the boiler itself.

Q: How loud is the boiler in operation? Does the burner make a whistling sound?

While we do not have any noise data available, the manufacturer advertises the boiler as "whisper quiet." The product's quiet operation is a result of its fully enclosed housing.

this boiler is quiet...much quieter than the boilers from 20-30 years ago. when firing up and running, it makes an quiet whistling noise that is only really audible within 10 feet or so of the boiler. if your boiler is an enclosed room, it will be good as silent. if it's exposed to the rest of the living space, it's still hardly a bother.

I had one installed in 2005. it is in a laundry/utility room in the middle of the house. it is very quiet! I can not even here it running standing outside the room. My boiler provides hot water, heat through a coil in the air handler, & radiant floor heat! I Love it! Very efficient!

Q: how many square feet is this boiler rated for?

There are many factors that are involved in sizing a boiler. A few of these factors involve the geographical location of the home, type of construction, square footage of the location, amount of insulation, etc. It is recommended that a heat loss of the location is completed by a certified installer to assess what size boiler is needed.

a reputable local HVAC contractor spec'd this model (GB142/30) for my home. 2200 sq feet. It's an older home but it is fully insulated with modern high efficiency windows and doors.
