Great Boiler/Burner Combo

This is a great product that now installed, has been working flawlessly. A word to the wise, this boiler weighs in at about 550 pounds. It will be delivered on a pallet. It is advised that you have a plan of attack to move the boiler combo to the desired location. You will need an appropriate sized dolly with a strap, and if you are going down any stairs, have at least 3 able bodied people to handle the move. Once in place it up to you or your plumber to hook it up. I spent an additional $2k on the supplies needed to hook up 2 heating zones. Save yourself the aggravation and go to your local plumbing supply. Forget the Big Box Chains. I guarantee you they will not have what you need. Good luck!

Works as it should

I replaced a V7 Burnham with this unit and was hoping it would just be a slide in...I am not sure if there is such a thing. The taps are in the same place but the door is the full width of the burner mount which requires the included elbow be turned 90 toward the clean out in order to have clearance to open the door. It takes much longer than my V7 did to fire once it starts its sequence which I wasn't prepared for. It turns off the igniter after a time when it detects flame which helps to make it way quieter that my V7. The shroud which also helps to dampen the sound requires that the fuel come up from the bottom and mine is out to the side. I didn't see a big advantage of the shroud. It has to be removed for any kind of service anyway and it is not really that loud. I just hope that Burnham has fixed all of the leaking issues

Very happy with the V8H3 boiler! Delivery was great.

I installed the old Burnham 31 years ago. The new Burnham has a swing door for burner maintenance which is great also like the box around Becket burner was able to run outside air to it. Very happy with the up grade, money well spent!

we can not do heat loss calculations, you would need to calculate that yourself. We do have a BTU calculator but it a ballpark figure not a true heat loss calc.

Q: How many btu's do I need to heat a 2000 sq feet?

It depends on several factors, most notably the location and insulation quality of the building. A an average house in New England would probably need about 40 BTUs per square foot (or about 80,000 BTUs for 2,000 square feet), but this figure varies widely by house. An on-site heat loss calculation would be the only way to get a definitive number.
