35 purchased, all looking good.

I used these to make a DHW heat exhanger going into an old propane tank used as hydronic water storage coupled to a froling boiler. I used a 5/8 reamer in a drill press to cut the shoulder out of the fittings to allow 1/2 tube to pass through & be soldered to together, this leaves me with 8" of pipe coming out of the tank to connect to a manifold and the remainder of the tube to go into the tank as a heat exchanger. These fittings are threaded into a blind tank flange & the pipe flange is welded into a hole in the tank.

It's been a challenge but the only part available

I bought these fittings to step down from a 1" brass tank tee assembly to 3/4" copper lines. I had to redo these connections over a dozen time to get them to stop leaking air during my pressure test. I did pipe dope, teflon tape, combinations of teflon tape and dope. I also tried various thicknesses of tape and varied the number of wraps. The only combination that would work was first coating the threads in a light application of dope. I wiped off the excess to ensure dope was only in threads. I did 5 wraps of thick tape with a lot of tension when wrapping. I did a final layer of dope on the tape. Finally, I tightened to moderate pressure. I don't know if these threads are not machined correctly, or they are not compatible with my tank tee, but getting these threads to stop leaking was a significant challenge. All that being said, this was the only part/supplier selling this part so beggars can't be choosers!

Maybe store them better?

They were packaged OK as usual but the threads were in sorry shape from handling prior to shipping. I had to chase them with my Dremel to even make them go halfway home.

I would buy this product again

Fittings are being used in a new heating system that uses in floor radiant and fan powered unit heaters, type L copper supplying the manifold with mixing valve and pump.

Trash casting

Maybe I've just been unlucky, but this is the second Elkhart copper part I've got from Supply House where the casting has been absolute trash. The start of the thread was missing making it impossible to thread into anything.

I would buy this again if I needed it.

I needed this copper adaptor for the air line I was installing in my garage. The fitting was perfect, and I was happy to find it at Supply House, as they seemed to be the only place who carried it. Unfortunately I only needed one of them, but they were sold only in packages of 5. I would have been willing to pay more for just one of them than the resulting cost from buying a package of 5. Now I have 4 of them that I will probably never need again. They will probably sit unused in my garage until I die.

3/4 inch copper x 1/2 inch NPT copper adapter

The fittings were of high quality. The thickness of the fittings was good. The NPT threads were cut correctly, not too deep, with sufficient taper.

excellent quality USA fitting

EPC has always been my favorite copper fitting brand. The socket ends aren't too tight like it is with Mueller Streamline fittings and their male adapters are nice and shallow especially in the larger sizes above 1".

I have simply used teflon tape. Radiant heat is a very low pressure system so nothing special is required in my opinion.

Yes, this would thread into a 1-1/4" female connection and the other end would solder onto 1" copper pipe.

This will thread in a 11/4'' tank and a 1'' copper pipe will fit inside the other end and need to be soldered

This is not a pressure fitting. It's a sweated copper fitting that adapts 1-1/2 inch copper pipe to 1-1/2 inch male iron pipe.   George

Q: B&g 1/1/4 inch flange. Is this what is needed to make the thread connection to flange. http://www.pexsupply.com/Bell-Gossett-101003-1-1-4-Bell-Gossett-Iron-Body-Pump-Flange-pair-3808000-p

If the flange is not brass you would want to start with a brass nipple and then use an 1 1/4" x Female adapter. If the flange is brass then the answer is yes. Paul Neill Liquid Design

Was this review helpful to you?
-

yes, as long as you have a 1-1/2" copper female fitting on the other end. Note, this is a sweat fitting requiring soldering. If don't want to solder, you can buy a compression fitting that would work equally as well.

This fitting (part WP4-20-16) fits over 1-1/4" nominal copper pipe (i.e. copper with a 1-3/8" outside diameter). Copper "fitting" or "street" adapters fit inside of copper pipe adapters and are the same size as copper pipe.

Yes, the 1 1/4 will go over the 1 1/4 pipe and thread into 1" threaded.

Yes, this adapter converts 1-1/4 copper pipe to 1 inch threaded end. In other words it is sweet 1-1/4  (go over pipe) one end and 1" NPT on the other.

YES, it will go on/over a 1 1/4 " line

I use 1/2 x 1/2 male adapter and the female end accepts 1/2 rigid tube. So your 1 1/4" female end of the male adapter will accept 1 1/4" rigid tube. Yes, it can be confusing. My 1/2" male adapter will accept 1/2" rigid copper tube. However, when measured the OD is actually 5/8 inch and the female end of the male adapter is also 5/8". So in your case YES, the 1 1/4 male adapter will accept 1 1/4 rigid tube Sent from my Motorola Smartphone on the Now Network from Sprint!

Q: Can you verify that the 1/4" x 3/8" Copper X Male Adapter (Cello WP4-04-06) is NPT? Thanks!

It looks like it is in the picture. I would be surprised if the threads were any other than NPT. I think it would solder over the end of a 1/4" pipe and allow you to screw on a standard 3/8" female fitting. It is going to need some good pipe dope to keep it from leaking. Frank.

Hello, I don't recall ordering this part, but the appearance looks like NPT threads.. I believe I ordered the 1/2 x 3/8 fitting. Hope this helps, Allen

Was this review helpful to you?

Yes it is NPT! To prevent leaks, solder copper end of adapter first (even if you have to use a copper stub and couple it later, or use a copper to copper union), wrap male threads with teflon tape three or four times, then coat with teflon paste before connecting threaded end. The idea is to avoid heating a threaded connection to insure against leaks! I use teflon tape with teflon paste on all my threaded connections (black pipe, shower arms, etc.)!
