Good quality, good price, a little pain

I've always found that fitting 45 degree elbows to copper tubing is a little more difficult than it is to insert the tubing into other fittings of the same size. Maybe something to do with the particular casting process for a 45. Good removal of any tube ridge is essential. Otherwise, no complaint. Very good quality, very good price.

Made it work, but with a lot of effort

When dry fitting pipe into the elbow with only light hand pressure, the pipe got wedged in and it was extremely difficult to remove, even though the pipe was less than half way in. This was with a clean, brand new pipe and fitting. It was so tight that I had to bang it loose with a hammer and vice grips. I also had the same problem with a 90° elbow. In both cases it was the end of the fitting that had the manufacturer's stamp, so maybe the stamp deforms the shape of the fitting just enough to be a problem. I ended up having to grind out the inside of the fittings to get to the point where I could dry fit the pieces together and still get them apart for soldering. SupplyHouse folks -- try this and see if you have the same problem. Get a 45° and 90° elbow and a 12" segment of pipe (all 1-1/4") and see if you can dry fit them together without them getting stuck.

Rossco, Yes it is CxC! A Copper Elbow (45 degree or 90 degree) has a copper female fitting on both ends. A Copper Street Elbow has a copper female fitting on one end, and a copper male fitting on the other end!
