Hi Neisha! Yes, this can be mounted both vertically and horizontally.
That would be the opposite of "passive" however if you wish to have both a pump and the option of a passive system you could simply bypass the pump using valves allowing you to re-route the flow. I don't know what the resistance of the pump is when it isn't running. Benjamin Straub Facility Manager, Canoe Island French Camp PO BOX 370 ORCAS WA 98280
Yes it would work depending on the flow of gallons per minute you require. It might also depend if you have a closed or open system and the height of the panels. I use it with a hot water heater and pex pipe in basement walls. I got the stainless steel because the cast iron pumps I had started rusting.
The simple answer is YES. I have a standard house setup, ie; water heater, with a supplemental solar system. Michael Carle
yes, its on the sheet linked below: http://s3.supplyhouse.com/product_files/59896775-grundfos-up15-29su.pdf
The pump does not have a built in check valve. You will need to place a check valve in line with the pump just up stream.
Yes, it should. They both are Stainless Union Connections GU125. You just need to know what size and if it's solder or NPT.
Yes it should work if you don't have any leaks.
No. Will need some new connections, but try another pump.
According to the manufacturer, these pumps are different. The UP15-18SU is obsolete and its replacement is the UP15-29SU. Dimensionally they will fit in the same piping arrangement.
I needed to find a replacement for that same pump. I used this pump and although it looks slightly different, I found the performance to be exactly the same.
Yes these pumps are face-to-face replacements. However I have a problem. I ordered new valve/unions to replace the old ones which were badly corroded and non-functional for years. The new valve/unions were OK on the pump end but the flare fitting end did not match the old. The diameters appear the same but the threads/inch do not match. The new valves P/N is 59896775. A problem for me because the stupid plumber did not leave sufficient pipe protruding from the wall for me to cut and put the new flare nut and ferrule on. This may not apply to your situation-- good luck. TV
yeah the UP15-29SU will work, should be 10 microfarad capacitor with flows to 12 gpm VOLTAGE: 115V make sure you mount it the right way.
After speaking with tech support at Grundfos, the 15-29 is an exact replacement to the 15-18 all the way down to the same flange size. If you'd like more information from Grundfos their # is***.****
The power requirements for this pump while running a constant flow of 4 GPM of Water is 87 watts and .75 in amps.
The NBF-22U pump ( http://www.pexsupply.com/Bell-Gossett-103255-1-25-HP-NBF-22U-Bronze-Circulator-Pump-8641000-p ) is still available. Any other stainless steel, union connection pump that meets your system's GPM and head pressure requirements should be able to replace it.
The flange-to-flange measurement is 5 14/16". The timer is available here: http://www.pexsupply.com/Grundfos-505474-Grundfos-24-HR-Programmable-Clock-Timer
Grundfos did confirm that this is the replacement model for the UM25-18SU.
