Just bought a house and needed to replace broken or missing TRV's. Found that Supply House had them at the best price. They had the instructions posted and i could easily confirm that what they offered is what i needed. Now my house is warming at a more even rate.

The Honeywell T104A1040 actuator only works with the V110 series valve bodies. It must be used with a valve body that allows a horizontal installed position outside of radiator enclosures to avoid radiator heat or it will not work. You will need a magnifier to read the installation instructions because it is written in very small print. The valve body is normally open, so refill the system and bleed the air out of the radiator BEFORE you attach the actuator to the valve body. Recommend you checkout the V2040ASL20 valve body paired with the T2001 actuator as a better alternative, also sold by SupplyHouse. You must make sure the system is balanced. The room thermostat valve may open but no hot water will flow if the thermostat control for the furnace shuts it down too early.

Saw this technique on This Old House. We have steam radiators and main bedroom is directly above the steam furnace. Up until installing this product, bedroom would get uncomfortably hot while rest of house barely heated up. Installation was easy. Thermostat instuctions for setting adjustment can be a little more discriptive, but not rocket science. After installing product, room remains at a comfortable temperature and excess steam is directed to rest of house. Product works as described. Had Honeywell V110D1008 valve and T104A1040 Thermostatic Radiator Actuator installed on a 3rd-floor radiator that was Bogarting the heat in my 1888 Victorian. Products arrived earlier than expected, are of high quality, and fit perfectly by swapping out existing fitting. Now the heat goes to that radiator first as always, then shuts down when it reaches desired temp, allowing heat to race to the rest of the house. Should have done this years ago!
