Great thermostat for the money!
Works great and connects to the internet via WiFi for weather information. Like that I can lock out the compressor/electric heat at certain temperatures. The humidity sensors are a little finicky and can read high/low at times. Besides that, no issues. Plus, download the app and/or control your t-stats from the website!

Firmware has bugs
Very disappointed in this thermostat (Honeywell-TH8321WF1001).
1) It will not stay connected to my 2.4g router, but is stable on my cell phone hot spot.
2) When DST turned is on, home screen displays DST while schedule follows Std. time.
3) Discovered some Honeywell thermostats have issues with the 2007 begin/end DST dates, so I followed the recommendation to turn DST off. I did that, but now touching the current time on the home screen does not bring up the time editor as before.
4) Outdoor temp sensor is induction sensitive, so wiring can't run with thermostat wires. Other mfg sensors use digital communication to allow connection via thermostat wiring.
This thermostat cost way too much ($184) to lack software support. Honeywell should provide (automatic) firmware updates on WiFi thermostats with software issues.

This was a direct replacement for a bad thermostat. I love this Wi-Fi enabled thermostat as you can control your unit from the Honeywell total connect from anywhere in the world.

Nice Thermostat
Needed to replace my existing thermostat and this TH8321WF1001 was what my system needed, two stage heat pump with back up electric heat strips. Hook up and programing was no problem; all is well again.

more importantly factory sealed. If you read reviews from other possibly sites where you might purchase, the price was sometimes better, but the comments were: "previously opened", "clearly used and returned", etc. I have no time for that in my day!

30 year Tech.
Best stat out there. If you havent realized that wifi with hvac is a rabbit hole I dont recommend.
You wouldnt hook it to your car engin knowing it would crash and you would be stuck on the side of the road.
Lol.
They ware well and even have a resale market.
Best all around tstat on the market today.

Q: We have an older Slantfin boiler with 3 zones and Honeywell zone valves. We are gone during the most of the winter and we would like to monitor thermostat settings and be notified if temp drops too low. 2.4 ghz wifi in house. Is this the thermostat I am looking for? Thanks

Q: If using on a heat pump system. What determines when the backup/aux heat strips come on? I know some thermostats you can adjust this feature and some are fixed.

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffThe thermostat provides Differential settings between all stages. The equipment changes stages based on how far the indoor temperature is from the setpoint. Differential settings provide a way to balance comfort and conservation. A Backup Heat Droop is available for systems with emergency heat, between 2 and 15 degrees. If the Backup Heat Droop is set to 2 °F, the indoor temperature must be 2 °F away from the setpoint before the backup heat turns on.

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffNo, Redlink and Wifi are separate systems. WiFi stats offer direct connectivity with your wireless home router, but do not have the capability to interface with Redlink devices.
