Description
–
Hydrolevel low water cut-offs are electrically operated. A probe is installed in the boiler shell or external manifold and is connected to the control unit. Water is used as a conductor to complete the circuit between the probe and the boiler shell. When water is in contact with the probe, the circuit is completed; when the water level drops below the probe, the circuit opens. Hydrolevel controls provide contacts to de-energize the burner circuit in a low water condition.

Easy to Install
Installs quickly and easily. Boiler repair guy had quoted $1150 to replace my existing device and I did this myself for less than $100 and an hour of my time on a Sunday. Do remember to isolate your control circuit at the breaker and double check with a multi-meter before you start. Also remember that the lug in the center of the box needs to be tightened as this is an electrical contact between the probe and the circuit board. (I accidentally left this loose before double checking my work and catching my error.)

Installed this Lwco and it's a poorly made design in a cheap plastic enclosure In two days the well leaked through the sensor port resulting in water contacting the control board. Ultimately replaced with a taco which has a much sturdier enclosure and more secure mounting

Easy to Insall, So Far So Good
Purchased a taco LWC which leaked thru the probe. Sent it back and purchased this one. Easy installation, no issues, works correctly. I'm only two days in, will give it 5 stars for the easy installation and no problems so far but time will tell on longevity.

Q: The case is plastic. Can I use flexible metal conduit to install, assuming conduit is grounded?

Verified Reply- SupplyHouse StaffThe 1150 grounds through the probe to the boiler shell or a pipe tee. The control box mounting screws ground the circuit board to the probe. Check to ensure that both mounting screws are tightened securely and that the probe is not insulated from the boiler shell or tee with excessive use of Teflon tape or sealing compound.
