0.75" x 44.375" Magnesium Anode Rod, SP11309C

I realized that my 4 year anniversary of owning this new construction home was upon me. I started to write down all the things I needed to do. Replacing the anodes was high on the list because let's face it, new hot water heaters are expensive. Supplyhouse.com had exactly what I needed. With the right tools the whole process takes 10 minutes per HWH. The service call is 1 hr minimum ($85-100) and the parts were $50 each from the 3 places locally that offered to come service my house. I live in a new subdivision in booming Central Texas and getting service professionals scheduled is tough. Getting emergency providers is expensive and difficult. The subdivision is hitting 6 years this year and I'm starting to hear my neighbors complain about things breaking. When I pulled out my 4 year old anode rods they were shot. Down to bear rusted wire in several places and rotted pock-marked goo covered the rest. My HWH's have the standard 6 year warranty and I see why. This whole system is designed to fail in year 6.5. No doubt in my mind. Supplyhouse.com saved me from an expensive repair. Get a lengthy cheater bar or a cheap electric impact wrench. Put 3-n-1 type penatrator oil on the old rods 3 days prior. Make sure you turn off the burner. The water in and the water out lines. If not both lines the pressure from the upstairs will all come out upon you (yes I'm speaking from experience). Drain ¼ out of the tank and then unscrew the old anodes. Out they come and in go the new ones. Wear leather gloves as the old ones will be 135° or more and that's hot. With the access to the top of your HWH and with the right socket (1-1/16) and an impact wrench this is an easy job. Supplyhouse.com gave me all the things necessary to save me hundreds of dollars. I ordered one of (Rheem?) .7" x 44.375" Magnesium Anode Rod, but it turned out to be PROTECH brand, it also looks somewhat different than in the online picture. I installed received rod anyway. Hope they will correct the online product description. Thanks.
