I cut the escutcheon for easier installation in my case

For a recent guest bathroom remodel where I installed a pedestal sink, I bought two of these 1-1/4" Tubular Trim Tite Deep Escutcheons because I wanted to see if I could install one without unhooking the already-installed connection just to install the escutcheon. If my expierment failed, I had another unmodified escutcheon ready to go. I figured I would try to cut the escutcheon down its length (which I did easily using a Dremel with a ceramic cutting disc to get the thinnest cut possible) and try to spread it to pop over the drain pipe. My plan worked great. After cutting down the length, I was able to easily spead the pvc just enough to pop over the drain tubing and slide the escutcheon into place against the drywall. I turned the seam from the cut towards the floor. Nobody will ever see it unless they are upside down on the floor beneath the drain looking up. No need to glue it together as the shape of the escutcheon was unchanged with my thin cut using the ceramic cutting disc on the Dremel. Making the cut would not be necessary if I had purchased prior to drain installation. It really dresses up the look by hiding the older somewhat yellowed by age PVC extending from the wall with the threaded connection for the drain.
