You should be able to mount these in any direction. The only issue that I am aware of is the electrical cover is designed to shed water in case of water leakage around pump. Should not affect pump operation.
You would need to use a switching relay (part SR501-2 for one zone) in order to use a low-voltage thermostat with the 007-F5 circulator.
