Good way to make removal/replacement of Hy-Vents a snap
I had previously used an 1/8" ball valve to isolate the automatic Taco Hy-Vent if repair/replacement of the vent was necessary. While this certainly makes replacement easy, it degrades the vents operation because the ball valve does not have a "bubble breaker" and some air bubbles will not get vented. This Service Check Valve solves that problem by including a bubble breaker. The only slight downside (lost one star) is that the seal between the check valve top and Hy-Vent bottom surfaces is an o-ring which unseals as soon as you start to unscrew the vent. This results in a brief time when pressurized boiler water can escape before you can fully unscrew the vent and the check valve fully closes. Just wear a glove and drape a rag over the vent and then quickly unscrew it as soon as you have loosened it.
