Description

42" Blue Lightning Aluminum/Zinc Anode Rod, Hex Plug, Flexible (4 sections)

Every water heater has an anode rod. Water corrodes the inside of steel tank water heaters. The anode rod sacrifices itself to protect the tank. As it deteriorates it should be replaced, or the tank will corrode and eventually leak. Check your anode rod every 2 year as the anode rod's life depends on a few variables, including water quality, tank use, water temperature, and tank quality. The Water Heater Smart Blue Lightning anode rod will help avoid early tank failure. The segmented design allows for replacement in tight spaces. The anode rod can be cut in length to fit short water heaters. The blue lightning rod is made of environmentally-friendly aluminum/zinc, with durable, corrosion-resistant, stainless steel links.

Features:
  • Hex plug head type with 3/4" male thread
  • Made of aluminum/zinc
  • Flexible anode rod (4 section)
  • Segments connected with 304 stainless steel braided wire and stainless steel or copper couplers
  • 3/4" diameter x 42" long
  • Good for helping minimize the "rotten egg smell"
  • Can be installed with only 14" clearance
  • Cut to fit your water heater

Completely Solved Our Problem

We have a whole house filter, but even with the maintenance of that system our hot water still had a rotten egg smell to it. After some investigation we learned that changing our anode rod should help. IT DID! SupplyHouse provided excellent support in helping us find the correct rod, it arrived quickly, all questions answered, and was easy to install. Thank you!!!

Does not remove odor as advertised

Product looks fine and is easy to install. I removed the old anode and used the water heater for one week without an anode. There was no smell at all in the water. Obviously I do not want to continue using it without an anode. I was told that an aluminum and zinc anode would take care of the smell in the water due to the high iron and mineral content in my well water. Put in the new anode and the smelly water came right back. Should have just left the magnesium one in there.

The Right Solution

After you change the anode, you can smell the difference in the water. I just installed it, so I don't know how long it will last. If I get 3-4 years Im good.

Maybe not the product's fault

We bought this alum/zinc anode based on reviews that said THIS was the product that would "eliminate the sulfur smell" of our hot water in our brand new water heater. It hasn't. Whether our well water will require added filtration by a softener and an iron filter along with the zinc anode to stop stinking is yet to be found out. Ease of installation was easy AFTER the massive McGyver-esque invasion of the heater to remove the factory installed anode. Supply House was good to work with - reasonable pricing and fast shipping. I will use Supply House again for parts!

Exactly what I needed, good pricing

Anode rod replacements that were segmented so no big deal getting them in. Had to cut old ones to get out!
