AB-155C AquaBalance Combination Wall Mount Gas Boiler, 125,000 BTU (NG)

The boiler worked for one year. The second year the plumber tried repeatedly to keep it running, but finally gave up. I've finally resorted to a heat pump and am getting hammered by the 44% increase in my electric generating cost in the last 9 months. Welcome to the world of corporate profits.

Normally I don't write reviews, but see others are experiencing my same grief and feel I need to add more here. Found these reviews when I was looking for the parts required to repair my boiler once again. Same exact problems as others are facing since installing this in 2020. Boiler sensors acting irregular, firing inconsistent, not providing consistent DHW heat, constant igniter replacement, random error codes and faults. Finally after an array of problems and paying people to look at this several times a year for multiple years, I started calling support every time so things were documented and on what was replaced. Never once would they agree to replace anything. My main problem now is a leaking DHW heat exchanger (just like others have stated). They said it's definitely covered under warranty and I needed to contact their in house contractor tech support in order to get the ball rolling for a warranty. The tech asked a few questions and then yelled at me and said my contractor hadn't been maintaining everything properly because I hadn't been flushing the system yearly and installing the $200 maintenance and gasket kit every single year. After I told him that residential support already agreed to replace it he yelled at me some more and hung up on me. Great service! How do they expect people to buy a $200 kit and pay 4-6 hours maintenance, another $600 if you find a reasonable person? That equates to $800+ per year for annual maintenance. Then add all the additional trouble tickets and boiler cleaning and exchanger replacement and the cost is astronomical. Bottom line, my unit barely ran and never worked as intended for 4 years and I've had enough. I'm ripping it out and replacing it with another brand. Any other brand, doesn't matter because it can't get any worse.

The manual says to check all connections for tightness prior to installation for a reason; they are all loose. I had good luck the first year - been chasing leaks every few months; we are just starting year 3 now and found the heat exchanger is now leaking severely - note this is not a connection leak like the rest - this is a leak from the main heat exchanger cylinder to body. Other than a constant maintenance nightmare (leaks) the unit does what it needs to do. I regret not going with the Rinnai or Bosch - good luck

I've had terrible luck with these boilers. First one burned up on the inside, melted plastic not to mention gaskets that leaked every 3-6 months. WM rep saw the burned up boiler, the said it was recirculating exhaust gas but multiple installers disagreed stating the exhaust and intake were installed like the manual. Bought a second one, it works but the gaskets leak every 6 months.

I have installed 3 different boilers as a home owner including this one. This is probably one of the more difficult to install just mainly because of the way the is setup. It Jumps you from page to page referring to pictures on different pages and such. The most striking is how much room there is in the cabinet. The control box moves out of the way with removal of one screw and you can access anything which is a diy repair man's job a dream. It heats the water extremely fast. In the manual it says it requires x100 inhibitor and leads you to believe it comes with it. I emailed the company and they said it is not required anymore so they don't send it with it but it is strongly recommended.

I bought this product in 2019. The igniter went a month later. I had to replace a sensor in 2020 and again a different sensor in 2021. Now water is coming out of the heat exchanger and where I have to empty a bucket every 3 hours. The tech said the exchanger needs to be replaced along with an attachment as well alll the washers associated with it. The worse part is you cannot get in touch with this company ever. SupplyHouse has been great but they cannot do anything till I get a WRGA number from this company because no one pickup or returns calls. I have been calling since Saturday and all morning. I bought this unit because I've told they are the best. It's been doing this a couple of weeks after installation. It's started as a drop and now full blown buckets. What a waste!.
