Description
Use this Retrofitting Guide to verify that your existing baseboard heaters will fit the one-size-fits-most baseboard heater cover replacements.
Note: Intended for Hydronic (hot water type) baseboard heaters. Use caution when using with electric baseboard heaters as they operate at higher surface temperatures.
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to persons.
The Panel Height of this baseboard is 6-3/4" and the Endcap Height is 7-1/2". For more info. please check out the Scale Template PDF in the Resources section.

- Made of 22 gauge perforate steel.
- Features TWO separate layers of protection against rust: an electroplated galvanized coating over the carbon steel and an epoxy-based powder coat in semi-gloss white.
- Designed to retrofit on to most existing baseboard heater covers.
- Superior Airflow... Airflow is the critical factor in proper baseboard heating. We use a perforated steel screen that visually hides the originally installed heater cover while ensuring that the heating element receives proper airflow.
- Safer around children than traditional baseboard covers... The dangers associated with hot finned tube heating elements are well known. Our one-piece design doesn't allow for little fingers or small flammable toys to be placed inside the heater via the top gap where the heat comes out.
- Simple to Install... It just doesn't get any easier. Only the non-permanent components of the existing heater cover are discarded. The back cover that is mechanically fastened to the wall stays in place.
- Baseboarders are made of steel and will get just as hot as the original covers.

36 QuestionsQ: I have two bathrooms that have the baseboard heat right next to the toilets. The problem is that it seems that when men use the bathroom there is always a " urine spray/splash " that occurs and rusts the heater covers. How do I prevent this without redoing the bathroom ? Are there good looking plastic or molded covers? Thank you.

I have used metal replacement covers in two bathrooms where the originals had rusted. They are white in color, install easily and look great. They are sold by PexSupply.com.
In reality the rusting of the covers occurs from the humidity which rises during showers. I have the same condition but the heaters are opposite the toilets, no spray! Paint the heaters and always use the exhaust fan to control moisture, mold, rust etc, or replace with DIY baseboard heater covers.
Q: can this be used for electric baseboard heater. I saw somewhere on the site that you need brackets for this. If so where do you get them?

I can help you. I had regular baseboard heaters and wanted child proof. But never installed the expensive covers from pexsupply because some heaters I cover by furniture, and others I teach my baby not to touch. I think you can get brakets from Home Depot or other hardware store. Just buy one cover first to try it out.
Q: We ordered a cover and it didn't fit for us. We like the perforated material though, is it possible to order custom covers with that same material?

Yes I used a tin snips to cut the material , its a little bit of work but take your time to cut as straight as you can ( the end cover will hide any rough edges anyway. Also use gloves as the cut end can be sharp. I have used these covers on almost all of my baseboard radiators, they look great and will not rust, even if used in the bathroom, have had for over 3 yrs now and they look brand new. You can use a plyers after the cut to even out the edge. Brian
If by custom, you mean ordering a certain length that is not offered, I don't think so. I think I asked Pex Supply the same thing. But it is very easy to purchase a pair of heavy duty shears to cut the covers to fit your size. That is what I did for lengths that were smaller than what was available and it worked just fine.
Q: I just installed new 4ft Cadet baseboard heaters and they work great, but I have safety and fire concernes because I have small children and you can put your fingers or objects up agains the coils. Will this product fit over the Cadet heaters?

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffYes. The manufacturer recommends a spray bomb application with a latex or enamel based paint in the color of your choice.
From the manufacturer's website: "...the standard semi-gloss white powder coated surface can be painted over. We recommend a spray bomb application with a latex or enamel based paint in the color of your choice." I guess I am showing my age, but, apparently, a "spray bomb" just refers to using an aerosol can of spray paint.
You can paint this with a good spray paint Krylon is a very good paint.

These are do-it-yourself covers and therefore do not actually have closeable dampers.
The front side still remains open.

Q: I have a knob (to adjust temp/flow through the pipe) on my baseboard heater that extends through the cover. I assume I will have to cut a hole for this knob. What tool would you recommend to get a clean cut.

The 22 gauge steel can also be cut very neatly with hand shears.
