The Caleffi AngleMix™ 520 series thermostatic mixing valve is used in
systems producing domestic hot water and easily mounts to the top of
water heaters. The mixed temperature outlet is inline with the hot water
inlet, facilitating trouble-free connection and reducing space required
for installation. The AngleMix maintains the desired output temperature
of the mixed water supplied at a constant set value compensating for
both temperature and pressure fluctuations of the incoming hot and
cold water. The mixing valve also features a thermal shut-off function
that operates in the event of a cold water supply failure at the inlet.
Also available as body only, for a wide variety of separately-ordered end
connections, the angle style body design offers improved fluid dynamics
for better performance and reduces installation labor and materials,
eliminating a piping elbow in typical installations.

The regular Tee style mv is too wide with the checks. This makes it easier to pipe out

I would buy again
Licensing is making us put these in our water heaters in our group homes. found these to be the best for install, and has the temp gauge to fine tune the water temps, and comes with check valves

This is my go to mixing valve
I install mixing valves weekly and I've found the Caleffi does the job! It's my go to so I stock several in my shop.

Product does not meet it's design intent
Installed with new 65gal Heat Pump Water Heater to run the heater at 140 and have 120 at the effluent stream. setting range says it goes to 150, but it will not go above 130. Replaced with second unit, same result. Spec says max temp swing is 2C, but it goes from blistering hot to jump out of the shower cold. I capped the cold input pipe so it's only takes hot through it and it still shuts off intermittently. I suspect the shower flow rate is problem as it's ok with faucets. I'm in CA and shower is 1.8gpm, restricted to under 2gpm. Product spec says minimum flow rate should be 0.5gpm. The implication is that it can still regulate temperature at that flow rate, in practice it cannot. Am going to remove valve entirely.
The only thing that worked was the temp gauge and it reads the pipe temp accurately (I probed separately). As it is a bimetallic gauge, it has really slow response time and can't report accurately the instantaneous water temp nor the valve position. It's almost misleading to have this here.
other knowledge learned: in overall efficiency, coupling your hot water pipe to the cold inlet right at the tank causes the pipe run to get cold faster. So you have to turn on the shower to purge the pipe of cold water and since the mixing valve doesn't seem to open at 1.8gpm, the only way to get hot water is to also open the faucet so more water changes out. big waste. Now I need to install a recirc pump to get more flow through the pipe to open up the mixing valve. big waste of time and energy.
