Good control after stabilization

I bought this thermostat for my elderly mother's bedroom, and chose it based on the proportional control and on the fact that I am pleased with my air-conditioner thermostat made by the same company. I use it in proportional-control mode, displaying in Fahrenheit to control a 1400-watt baseboard heater in a corner bedroom 12' x 12' with the door closed all night. Thermo is mounted on an indoor wall, away from heat sources and windows, at chest height. Anticipation is set to "AS" (500 to 2000 watt heaters). It does a pretty good job of maintaining a constant temperature, but only after about an hour of stabilizing, so I start it early each night. The unit appears to be designed around Celsius; you cannot set it to some whole Fahrenheit temperatures. Example: you can set to either 71.9 or 72.1, but not 72. I would rather just work in whole numbers, as does my air conditioner thermostat made by the same company. When I want to see the setpoint, I momentarily press one of the arrow keys. However, a quick "punch" of an arrow key gives me a too-brief display of the setpoint, so I must hold it down a short while. However holding down the key any longer will cause the setpoint to change. I wish a short "punch" would give me several seconds of setpoint display, the same way my air conditioner thermostat does. The power switch is recessed, so I have to use a fingernail to turn it on and off each day.

Do not buy this thermostat !!!

We just bought a house built in 2007 with individual low wall mounted KING WHF 2415 fan powered heaters. The existing thermostats were KING dial stats with no ambient temperature reading so I wanted to change out the stats to get better control of the temperature in the house. I bought 8 of the White Rodgers and the ambient temperature was at least 10 degrees off which I verified with an external thermometer and the set point and demand to operate was at least 3 degrees off. I made 2 calls to White Rodgers (Emerson) technical support who suggested "factory reset" and "full power reset" which I did with the support technician on the phone...and no change or improvement with the stat and the technician actually recommended returning them. The good news is the stats were easy to return and Supply House was good to work with...the fact this is a terrible product is not their fault...however they might consider not offering it anymore. I have since purchased the Honeywell TL 7235 A which was a little more difficult to install but is working flawlessly

Great product with great price

I used this as a replacement thermostat for thermosoft radiant floor heat and so far it's working great. This one is much cheaper than what they offer at thermosoft and also offers much better installation information.

I bought a second one

This is the only line thermostat that meets my requirements: it switches electronically (no clicks) and it uses proportional control (on for a portion of every 20 seconds) to keep the room temperature very constant despite changing outdoor temperature. I find it a bit difficult to enter the desired temperature -- you have to be pretty nimble with your finger, and Fahrenheit settings are usually in fractions such as 68.1, 68.5. I use one to control a baseboard heater in Mom's bedroom and it's miles ahead of the old mechanical thermostat. I use the new one (with some custom wiring) to control an oil-filled portable heater; the proportional control prevents the overshoot I experienced with the old on-off thermostat. When you install it, give it a couple of hours to adapt to your application.

Higher end thermostat at a good price

Varaible output control made a huge difference for my customer with radiant ceiling heat. The on/off switch on the face is a little hard to operate, but is a minor inconvenience for the features that come with the unit

This works but takes time

The only digital line-voltage thermostat I've found that works reliably with radiant ceiling heat. But it took several days to "learn" how to heat the room and display the correct temperature. I tried other DLV thermostats and they would allow the room to over-heat by as much as 6 to 8 degrees while incorrectly showing a lower temperature. Good thing this White-Rogers DLV thermostat came with a slip of paper stating that it would take time to "learn" the room conditions or I would have assumed it was way out of calibration and sent it back. For the first couple of days it read very low compared to a separate digital thermometer. However, patience paid off and once it "learned" how to heat the room, it maintains the set temperature and shows a very accurate room temperature. One complaint: it adjusts in odd steps of 0.2 or 0.3 degrees F rather than whole degrees F so it's a bit awkward to adjust the set temperature.

We do not believe this thermostat will work, as it can only handle 16.7 amps.

take an amp reading ,the older line voltage stats were all rated at 22 amps,by taking an amp reading with an amp meter you will know the total amps of your heating device!
