Pedestal pump for dewatering and sump applications. Known as ?Old Faithful? this pump is great for basement, and low lying sump and dewatering applications. Pedestal style pumps are specifically designed for narrow and small diameter pumping applications. This unit is designed for indoor applications where the motor is mounted above the pit cover and protected from water, water spray and high humidity. Pump is not intended for use with flammable liquids.

Good Pedestal Pump
So I bought the recommended Pedestal Pump from that other online outlet with Sump Pump in their name. It was a piece of junk. The lower bearing was out of alignment with the tower so it intermittently bound up and would not start. After some runaround with the manufacturer I got a refund. Bought this one and although expensive it went right in and has been working well for about three weeks now. It is also very quite. Very pleased with this unit

Not as good as the old one.
I purchased this M81 pump to replace an old M81. Unfortunately, the quality of the product has gone down. The old pump was rock solid in its base, the new pump rocks in its base. The pedestal pipe has been changed from metal to plastic and the fit between the base and the pipe is poor.

"Old Faithful" is a good name for it
My only issue was that I had to buy an extension pipe and some attachments to accommodate a 1" opening in my hose. With my old sump pump, the hose attached to the pump itself. Otherwise, it works just like it should.
