The WP17-16 cap is designed to fit over 1" nominal plumbing and heating copper. The cap has an ID of approximately 1-1/8".
A standard 1" Copper Cap has a ID of 1.125" to fit over the 1" copper pipe. There is no standard copper cap that inserts inside the copper tubing. The tubing ID varies with the tubing weight such as type M, L or K.
The ID of the cap is the same as the OD of 1" copper pipe.
This is a cap it will go over your pipe. I don't think they make a plug for standard plumbing as you want. This will however do the job for you. Chris Paul Bayside Heating & Air, Inc. Sent from my iPhone
Answer: All copper tube of either Type M (red markings), Type L (blue markings), Type K (green markings), or Type DWV (yellow markings) are made to be1/8" larger in OD (outside diameter) than the "nominal" ID (inside diameter). Considering that the wall thickness changes with the Type (DWV is thinnest...K is thickest) the OD dimension is consistent. Example: Type DWV 2" pipe has a 2 1/8" OD as well as 2" Type M, Type L, & TypeK...they will all be 2 1/8" OD. This is so the copper fittings will "fit". FYI: all solder style copper fittings are made to Type L standards (thicker than DWV or M but thinner than K). In the matter of the queried 1" ID copper pipe hard solder cap: the ID of the cap is 1 1/8" (1.125"). Kris Kruse KS Kruse Plumbing Co.
Inside diameter of a 1" cap should be "1 1/8, or "1.125.
Standard 1" copper (Types L, and M) has an O.D. of 1-1/8". A 1" cap is designed to fit on the outside of 1" copper tubing. This is what you're looking for.
Hello, If you're connecting to copper pipe--the cap will fit. If you are using the cap on any other metal than copper(M, L,), it will most likely not fit. Keep an eye out for my plumbing books. daniel dunphy
The inside diameter of the 3" copper cap (part WP17-48) is 3.130" and the outside diameter is 3.28".
The cap is 3-1/8 id but the od will vary depending on production and brands. Chris Paul Bayside Heating & Air, Inc. Sent from my iPhone
The cap has an inside diameter of 2.13" and an outside diameter of 2.25". It is designed to be soldered over nominal 2" copper pipe (i.e. copper pipe with a 2" ID).
ID is 2-1/8. I suspect the OD might vary slightly between manufacturers.
A 2" Cap Is about 2-1/8: inside and 2-1/4 " outside. Eric EZ Does IT!

The 3/8" for part WP17-06 refers to the nominal size of the copper tubing over which the cap will fit (which is copper with a 3/8" inside diameter and a 1/2" outside diameter). The cap itself has an ID slightly over 1/2" and an OD of 5/8".
It is about 1/16" thick.
