Description

Powerful output, compact design, remarkable energy-saving features. Our whole house electric tankless water heaters perform with the highest standards for comfort and reliability. Tempra Plus models feature Advanced Flow Control, patented in Germany and exclusive to Stiebel Eltron tankless heaters. If hot water demand exceeds working capacity, Advanced Flow Control automatically maintains consistent temperatures by slightly reducing flow. Intelligent self-modulating technology continually ensures the least amount of energy is used to heat the water. A Tempra 36 Plus provides hot water at a consistent temperature for 3-4 bathrooms in warm climates, or 2-3 bathrooms in cool climates. See sizing to determine which model is best for you. Stiebel Eltron invented tankless electric water heating technology more than 90 years ago, and is still the industry pioneer and world leader. Our engineering and manufacturing tradition of excellence means you can depend on the performance and reliability of our products.

  • Smart microprocessor technology unique to Tempra water heaters delivers steady water temperature even when flow rate vary as taps are adjusted
  • This Tempra Plus model has German patented Advanced Flow Control that automatically reduces output flow to maintain temperature if demand temporarily exceeds capacity.
  • Self-modulating technology saves energy by adjusting electrical usage
  • 300 Amp minimum total service to the residence, or an upgrade to this level, is necessary to install a Tempra 36 Plus as it has a maximum power draw of 150 Amps and requires 3 separate 50 Amp breakers with 3 separate runs of 6-gauge copper wiring
  • Tempra tankless electric water heaters must be correctly sized and you should consult the sizing guide to determine the correct model for you
  • Requires 240 Volt or 208 Volt electric service, and has a maximum output of 36,000 Watts at 240 Volts or 27,000 Watts at 208 Volts
  • Supplies endless hot water at a constant and steady temperature from 68 to 140°F (20-60°C) that can be set on the front panel digital
  • Flow rate you achieve from this or any tankless water heater depends on how powerful the unit is and the temperature difference between the incoming cold water and the hot water being delivered
  • 99% efficient and typically result in savings of 15-20% in comparison with electric tank water heaters
  • Must be installed vertically, water fittings pointing down, with detachable connections such as braided flex connectors to allow periodic filter cleaning and flushing for scale, and an anti-scale filter is recommended if hard water is present
  • Professional installation recommended

So far, So good

Great to install, good directions and the one question we called the mfg about was answered quickly. We are heating just one full bathroom with it now, but have another one in the works to add to the load. The tank itself seems very well built, and I appreciate the simplicity of the design and replaceable parts should the need arise. The only reason I only gave it four stars is to wait and see the savings on my electric bill, and how it functions this winter with colder incoming cold water.

For an electric TWH not bad

it produces decent HW for an electric tankless. Wiring requirements are nuts but that's the gig. Prob the best brand for this application on the market.

Nice heater

Looks great, let's hope it lives a long life. Make sure to read the specifications as it draws a lot of amps.

Tankless hat water works

Fast delivery. Easy installation. It works. A tankless water heater is compact and takes up no floor space. This unit only runs when there's a call for hot water. I've installed this model before. Reliable and with minimal maintenance. Make sure your water is soft or softened.

This is such a "cool" product.

This is a great product as long as you keep it descaled. Do not let it go past a year without descaling or the heater will break down. Otherwise you have on demand hot water without a big tank taking up space in your house and then flooding it when it blows.

Very happy

Install was straight forward, not very difficult. Works better than my oil furnace hot water and at $6/gal oil, saving money. Water pressure may even be better. Also, installed it closer to the fixtures so getting hot water faster. No complaints, quality unit. The screen is a little difficult to read if you're short and/or mount it above your head but I only looked to set the temp. once, not an issue.

Perfect for our use

Great product. Only glitch was circuit board came loose during shipping so heater did not work when first installed. I received a prompt response for technical support even though it was after hours when I called. Apparently that issue often occurs during shipping. It would be nice if they included an alert in the box to inform customers to check for that.

Q: can i use this product in a closed system filled with anti-freeze for use as the heat source in a heated driveway?

We don't recommend it. The heater is not approved for use in space-heating applications. Aside from that, electric domestic water heater generally do not have fast enough recovery for space-heating jobs and their elements may not react well with glycol.

On-demand water heaters are not rated with an estimated annual cost. The Tempra 36 PLUS draws 36 kW/hour at full load, so you can multiply your average weekly usage by your kWh rate by 52 to determine a rough figure. Keep in mind that 36 kW is a full load rate and the heater modulates to lower amperages when possible.

The Tempra 36 Plus is energy efficient compared to a tank water heater, only drawing power when needed. Over the long run, it will save you energy.

Q: I;am replacing a 10 yr.old, 50gal, electric with a tankless electric water heater. What size will I need?? ( to get the same amount of hot water for our needs)

Tankless water heaters are sized based on peak GPM (gallons per minute) demand. A standard shower requires 2.5 GPM. If you have two showers running at the same time, for example, you would need a unit that provides 5 GPM.
