As per page 5 of the installation instructions under the heading of Location, Amtrol states "Do not install where ambient temperatures can drop below freezing or exceed 120° F." Yeah, you really don't want it freezing. That will damage the tank and quite possibly stop your water. If you don't have it in a heated space, just wrap electric heat tape around the tank and piping.
Pro-Access models have a pipe connected to the elbow at the bottom of the unit. This can make it possible for installation of a shorter tank tee. Durabase models include a Durabase stand (see part DURABASE-22). The stand elevates the tank, which can be helpful in flood-prone basements.
A broken diaphragm (on the inside of the tank) is a common cause of leaks, but it is not the only possibility.
