This boiler has a slightly smaller heating capacity than your existing boiler. It would be able to meet you full heat load if your current boiler was oversized or even if it was sized correctly but the house has undergone improvements (new insulation, windows, etc.) over the years. The only way to see exactly how many BTUs you need would be a heat loss calculation.
Steam systems should be sized to match the radiation in your home, not the previous boiler or heat loss, as is appropriate for hydronic systems. You can find online charts and explanations for how to quantify the EDR (effective direct radiation) of your radiators and calculate BTU/hour from that.
This was back in 2008. We have been notified that since this class action suit has taken place, the issue has been resolved. We have not had any issues with the units we have sold.
