Most Liked Positive Review

I like it, but know what you are buying.

Replaced a defective four wire Honeywell thermostat that worked intermittently. On occasion, the display would go blank and the heat would go on full-on. It wasn't obvious that the thermostat was defective. I initially thought that there might be a problem with the main controller since the thermostat had no battery and power was supplied from the main controller. I was surprised to find that this Honeywell Pro thermostat had a battery. Didn't know about the four wire (with battery), five wire external power option. Got it working with four wires and battery. I then discovered I had the extra wiring to supply power with the fifth wire. Now works great in five wire configuration w/o battery. Apparently, the thermostat I replace was able to "steal" power from a four wire configuration.

A non-mechanical Thermostat of Honeywell quality

I needed a thermostat to supply the BMPlus Zone Control System with Temperature, Heat/Cool mode, and Fan settings only. The Zone Control should control the CPH, Stage, etc. The Installation Pamphlet documents a variety of setting, but not how to turn them off. Honeywell support will read the pamphlet with you (if they answer the phone) but not offer any additional help. They should have a flow chart available. Better documentation is needed.

Good thermostat

I have been using this thermostat for 15 years or more. I've had really good luck with them and they are simple. Older folks don't have any problem understanding them and they last a really long time

I would buy it again if I need another one

My neighbor and older lady her husband passed. She wanted to get rid of her programmable thermostats, and go back to a simple thermostat.

They work very well, very accurate.

This was a replacement for an identical unit that was damaged by leaking batteries. There IS a low battery warning on this model which I simply ignored too long -- entirely my fault. We have five of these units for our zoned radiant heating system. They hold the temperature within one degree (or less) of the set temp. They are used for heating only, since we don't have or need central air conditioning. (We are able to cool the house with two portable window air conditioners.)

No they will not, for a 2 stage I would suggest at least a 2H, 2C model, if not a 3H,2C model.

Q: I was not given an owners manual. How do I get the face off this model to change the battery?

This model is basically a sandwich whereas the back plate is screwed to the wall (if installed already) and the front half is held by little tabs. Run your fingers along the crack or the seems and pry off the front half (face plate). The AA batteries are inside. Do not use any other tool than your fingers. It may seem like it is going to break... but it won't. Good luck. Bruce Quarto

Willy, I have the same thermostat I only have 4 wires connected and it works fine. White, yellow, green and red. JR

Your old thermostat most likely did not have "c" which provides power to the unit. I specifically wanted that feature because I don't want to have to use batteries. Match up your existing connections with the ones on the new unit and don't worry about empty connections. As for the designations: R - heat W - heat / cool common B - cool Y - one of these (Y and G) is the fan, I forget offhand what the other is. C - power common. Return path for the low voltage AC power. I'm self-taught, not a professional. If I look at a setup I could figure out the G and Y.

Q: I want to add a remote thermostat control from one of these to my bedroom. What product should I use? Is it even possible with this one?

TH3110D1008 thermostat is not compatible with any remote control. Honeywell currently offers TH5320R and TH6320R Wireless Comfort System (wireless thermostats) and Prestige series thermostat (these thermostats consist of a handheld remote control). TH5320R is a non programmable thermostat, TH6320R is a programmable thermostat and Prestige series thermostats can be used as programmable as well as non programmable thermostats. These thermostats are compatible with multistage systems as well as single stage systems. These thermostats are professionally installed units. We recommend you speaking to any HVAC licensed contractor for compatibility queries.
