Outstanding Thermostat
I bought this thermostat to install in my late-70s parents' home as a replacement for their old round traditional Honeywell thermostat. I'd initially tried one of the touch screen programmable units from a big box store, but it proved too complicated. The Focuspro fit the bill perfectly: large, lighted, easy-to-read display, the functions exactly replicate the switches on the old thermostat I replaced, and the thermostat is extremely sensitive and precise. One hidden benefit of this and some other electronic thermostats is the ability to go into a hidden menu and limit how many times per hour the compressor comes on in the summer time -- a compressor that comes on 6 times per hour for 5 minutes each time will not cool as well as if the compressor comes on 3 times for 10 minutes each time -- this is because the heat exchanger doesn't really start to remove moisture from the air until the coils get good and cold, and that doesn't happen when the system runs in short bursts. And when moisture is removed from the air, the air feels cooler. Anyhow, this is an excellent unit that I'd recommend highly. Its combination of features are worth the few extra dollars the FocusPro costs compared to similar units from the big box stores. Pexsupply was an excellent place to buy [...] -- I will be returning to them without hesitation the next time I need an HVAC item.

First, it not the product or the service.
It was the cost. 4 years ago this was a $23.00 thermostat, because they don"t make anymore they tripled the cost.
As for the service , they did a fine job. The people who handled my order get a 10.

Great general purpose stat
We put these in all the time in our industrial commercial locations where they do not need or require a programmable thermostat. I find these to be very dependable, easy to install ,and They're even easier to replace by just un snapping it off the base and putting a new stat on the existing base.

Q: This unit comes with two different sized screens. Are the numbers and letters actually any LARGER on the unit with the larger screen vs. the smaller screen? From the pictures I've seen, it appears the numbers are exactly the same size on the larger screen, only spaced farther apart. I am particularly concerned with the sized of the letters that spell out "Heat - Cool - Off. I need those to be as large as possible so my elderly Father can see it. What is the point of the larger screen if the actual printing on the screen isn't any larger? Thanks!

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffThe figures on the screen are, in fact, larger. On the large-display models, the text is in 13 point font (versus 11 on standard models). The room temperature measures .81"(h) x .83"(w) and the set-point temperature measures .53" x .55" on the large model (as opposed to .68" x .71" and .45" x .46" on the standard units).

Q: Can this thermostat be used with a gas boiler with baseboard heat and straight A/C? If so, I may have wired it improperly.
