Hello Bill, thanks for writing in. The TH5220D1029 uses AA alkaline batteries.
Batteries can be used but the thermostat can also be hardwired for power.
Yes that will work as a replacement.
separate wires to the RH and RC terminals, not a jumper.
it sounds like you need 3H, or the emergency heat switch wouldnt function off the stat.
There are no compatible remote sensors for this thermostat. The best way to regulate temperature upstairs would likely be to install a separate thermostat upstairs and make the necessary changes to the heating/cooling systems to put the upper floor on a separate zone. Another option would be to install a thermostat with remote sensor options and then use remote sensors to create an average temperature using multiple inputs around the house. This second option would probably not be as effective as setting up separate zones, but it may be preferable to the current configuration.
The main difference between TH5110D1006 and TH5220D1029 thermostats is that -1029 models are two-stage. The 1029 also has a larger display (5.09 square inches versus 1.95 square inches) and an emergency heat setting.
The sku TH5220D1003 is the standard thermostat, and sku TH5220D1029 is the large display thermostat. On the large-display model, the text is in 13 point font (versus 11 on standard models) as well as the display size itself is 5.09 sq. in. (versus the 3.75 sq. in. standard display size).
Unfortunately Honeywell does not offer outdoor sensors for FocusPRO 5000 thermostats. You may want to look at VisionPRO 8000 models, which are compatible with outdoor sensor part C7089U1006.
I don't believe you can; you will have to look in the owner's manual and see if that's an option, though.
