This Aquastat is unfortunately obsolete. The manufacturer does not offer a direct replacement for it.
The L8148J1009 is listed as the direct replacement of the L814E1083. It is available here: http://www.supplyhouse.com/Honeywell-L8148J1009-Aquastat-Relay-8F-differential-5479000-p
We would recommend a L8148E1265 aquastat.
Yes, L8148E1265 aquastats are the recommend replacements for the obsolete L8148E1216 models.
Bob all I can tell you is I bought a replacement for mine because it was making a loud buzzing noise, the relay was not making a good connection. I assumed it was a bad coil but turns out a shot of WD-40 fixed the problem so I never installed the aquastat I put it on the shelf just in case I may need it down the line. FYI WD-40 is flammable so kill the power to the unit before you spray it down, spray the moving parts of the relay then manually push the top of the relay a few times to get the lube in give it a few seconds for the mist to clear before powering back up . This of course is only if you have the same issue I did it has been working for well over a year since I did this. I was not able to find the exact part number that was on my Utica boiler either so I purchased what seemed to be the closest replacement since I never installed it I can not tell you if it will be an issue or not but I do not believe it will
You should order the L8148E1265 ; http://www.pexsupply.com/Honeywell-L8148E1265-High-Limit-Vertical-Mount-Aquastat-Relay-15F-differential-5478000-p
The replacement for this aquastat is L8148E1265, which is on our site.
The L8148E1273 aquastat has been discontinued and replaced by part L8148J1009. Keep in mind that you may need to do some rewiring if the aquastats are used with a damper.
In the past there were many different L8148E aquastats, but today the only two options are L8148E1265 and L8148E1299. We wouldn't have a way to reference the correct replacement without knowing the full model number of the current aquastat.
