RUR199IN 199,000 BTU, Condensing Indoor Tankless Water Heater (Natural Gas)

I replaced my 50 gallon water heater which had a 6 year warranty but lasted 12 years. I did not like the possibility of the tank leaking someday and a new one would cost $1,300. So I opted for a tankless Rannai with a recirculation pump. I like the compact size, the 15 year warranty on the heat exchanger and that it had a built in recirc pump. Install if you want unlimited hot water. It seems to be built well. I don't like they way the water gets hot and then cold and then hot again. It's what some in the plumbing industry call the sandwich effect. When the recirc pump is running it seems to go away but otherwise you'll be running the faucet a lot longer. It's something to get used too. And install an expansion tank because pressure builds up with the recirc pump on and no one using the water. Don't know if I would do it again but time will tell. If building new construction then I recommend a dedicated hot water return with this type of unit which would probably eliminate the sandwich effect. Also, if you put a condensate pump and you want to hook up to the unit make sure the safety switch is a Normally Opened contact on the pump otherwise you'll set the code 25 which means the pump has failed. Recommending the unit is a toss up. Installed Jan 18, 2021

The best water heater I have had 👍

Recently ordered the Rinnai and when delivered, the shipping packaging was pretty tore up. Concerned that the water heater may have been damaged, I called w my concerns and the cust service rep Princes, was extremely helpful and understanding. Processed a return immediately. This unit is perfect! Endless hot water. Installation and set up was a breeze. After the installation I flushed the water pipes by running the hot water full blast in all 3 bathrooms. The water heater is set to 130 degrees and all faucets deliverd water at 129 degrees (even after 30 minutes of continuous flow). Initially I used the Wi-Fi adapter to control the unit witch worked fine. Ultimately I ended up purchasing the extra control unit just so the adjustments could be made by anyone.
