1-1/4" Air Separator (Sweat)

works as designed

I have used a few of these and on paper they are supposed to do a great job at getting out the small air bubbles that are in a system. After the system has run for a few days the ere is still air running around the system. the Caleffi products have fared better.

I am a veteran boiler tech I used this product and while air did come out it sprayed water every where any time it was open I have only used this brand once and that was enough for me I bought the 1-1/4 sweat and it was in the middle of my secondary loop befor I discovered it a complete east of time and money to replace it I will go back to spirovent never had a problem ever with them bummer because we stone is a good name

These vents work very well for removal of air from hydronic piping systems. I have used many of the other brands and these work just as well as the other versions of this style. Unlike the "scoop" type, these can be installed in tighter locations that do not have enough room for the long inlet pipe required when using those For larger systems with a lot of air to remove or with high water velocities, the "vortex" type units work better but for most residential size hydronic systems these are an excellent choice and a little better price than the other options. The removable cap allows these to be cleaned which in some systems is an important feature.

I really like Webstones valved circulator flanges and expansion tank valve. Their air separator is nice too, though about the same as the others I've used. But if using copper piping, why use threaded parts? You just have to sweat an adapter on anyway, and the adapters aren't cheap, and give another place for a potential leak! So just use a sweat type part like this, and make sure you order right and don't get threaded by mistake!
