Ultra 155 - 123,000 BTU Output High Efficiency Boiler - Series 4 (Nat Gas or LP)

Install and maintain a lot of these boilers, very quiet, reliable and relatively simple for a modulating boiler. Easy to work on VS some of the wall hung units(tight cabinets etc). Maintenance kits are readily available. My customers all give these units good reviews. One thing to note with this type of boiler (high efficiency mod/con) is that water quality(PH/cleanliness) is very important and it doesn't matter if the heat exchanger is made of aluminum or stainless steel, it will clog up, rot out and corrode if it is not addressed. Old systems need to be thoroughly flushed out with a cleaner and then magnetic filtration, dirt separation and the manufacturer recommended corrosion inhibitor need to be installed in the new system. I have seen plenty of stainless steel boilers/water heaters leak (some after less than a year of service)so it's not as bulletproof as people think. Other things to look out for are: 1)proper venting because if the exhaust is getting sucked back into the unit it will also corrode 2) using the correct type of glycol for the heat exchanger type. I also believe the new Nano coating was a big improvement on these units.

Bought this boiler to replace an identical one that was 23 years old. It was handy to be able to disconnect one and reconnect the other with minimal changes to the system. Some of the updates were a little tricky after being familiar with the Old system. But it's up and running well.

The boiler purchase experience from Supply House was "old-school" GOOD. The salespersons I spoke with were all exceptionally efficient and friendly. I would use Supply House again anytime. Unfortunately for me, the Weil Mclean customer service is worse than non-existant. I left at least eight messages for a callback and never received any, and neither did my installer on the installer tech line number. He was number 66 in the que at one point. We gave up. Our issue was to order a high altitude orifice. Supply House confirmed that it was backordered from Weil and not available until March--6 weeks later! My installer found one in a colleagues desk drawer that he had kept after converting his customer from LP to natural gas when it became available on their street. Lucky for me. I was replacing a Weil that had failed due to corrosion after only nine years, so I bought another thinking that as an owner, I would take better care of it than the previous owner did. Also I assumed that it would plug right in to my existing piping. Wrong. The measurements are just slightly different enough to require some re-piping for alignment. One would be wise to avoid the aluminum heat-exchangers of Weil and go for another brand of boiler with stainless steel parts in the high risk areas of the unit. And don't fear a clean-sheet installation. You'll get a higher quality modern boiler and the piping goes quick.

I replace the boiler that came with my house, a Crown Boiler Aruba series, with the Weil-McLain Ultra 155. I also re-piped all the radiators and zoned out the house. The first winter (2021-2022) my gas usage/bill went down significantly. My father, who has a similar type house, replaced his boiler with an older model Ultra 155, has had zero issues, he did not re-pipe house nor zone out his house. The operation is almost dead silent.
