16 QuestionsQ: I have some 1/4" OD copper tubing I would like to use for an art project; I purchased some 1/4" copper caps from the hardware store but they were much too large. Does the 1/4" measurement listed for these caps mean that they are 1/4" diameter on the inside so they would fit a piece of 1/4" OD pipe?

A 5/8 copper cap should have an ID of 3/4 inch to fit on a 5/8 OD pipe.
When they say 5/8” that is the “nominal size” and it is 3/4” OD and 0.668” ID. You use this 5/8” cap on a 5/8” copper pipe (i.e pipe that is 3/4” OD and 0.668” ID).
Q: Weird question what is the length/depth? I looking to use copper end caps in a creative project.

Q: What is the inner diameter of the 1 1/4 end cap? I have a pipe that is actually 1 1/4 inches in outer diameter. I had bought a 1 1/4 end cap (from a local hardware store) was too large, so I want to make sure I get the right end cap this time. Would a 1 inch end cap be better?

Try 1 1/2 but it's sounds to my like you have some odd non standard copper or your copper pipe is 1 inch Sent from my iPhone

Your pipe is probably 1inch
Outside diameter is 1.25 inches the inside diameter is 1 1/8 in. Just measured tonight,
INER DIAMETER OF 1 1/4 END CAP IS APP. 1 9/16 ALL FITTINGS ARE SIZED ACCORDING TO INTERNAL DIAMETER OF PIPE , SO IF YOUR PIPE IS 1 1/4 OUTER DIAMETER THEN MOST LIKELY IT IS A 1 INCH PIPE, SO TRY THE 1 INCH CAP.

HI JC, THIS DEPENDS ON THE WALL THICKNESS BUT 4 3/16 INCH DIAMETER IS A CLOSE ESTIMATION. THE HEIGHT COULD BE ANYTHING FROM 1 1/2" TO 3".

Okay - the ID of at 1" copper cap is 1 1/8" - OD is 1 1/4" and the length should be 1 1/8".
Height 1.05 OD 1.24 ID 1.129
