No, it cannot. The exhaust vents out of slots on the front of the unit which would be extremely dangerous in an enclosed space.
On the outdoor tankless there is no vent pipe--the unit vents from a horizontal slot across the top of the unit. J. J. LaRue Thomas
The T-KJr2-OS is meant to be installed outside, and uses no venting. The indoor units require category III stainless steel venting, so it is unlikely you can use existing venting if you had a standard atmospheric water heater previously.
According to instruction manual, with the remote controller, the max temperature is 167°F, without the remote, it is 140° F.
The heater is set for 122 from the factory. There is a model that has remote control heat settings. I am not sure what model goes to what temp. but one can go to 165 degrees. There are dip switches inside and different combinations of up and down make different temperatures. I do recall something coming with the heater that said do not set it yourself; get a plumber to do it. Here's a link to an installation manual. http://www.takagi.com/media/19139/110-310-510-TKJr2-TK4-TD2-Installation-Manual-62S051-4.pdf
This model is to be installed outside, that is why it is no vented. There is a model for inside installation which is vented.
You do not want to be looking at the outdoor model, which vents out the front directly into the outdoors. Mine is gas, on an exterior wall, and vents through the horizontal slots at the top of the heater (you can see them in the picture). There is an identical heater with a vent kit--look up that one. Jacqui
Mine is a natural gas model and is only using electricity to fire the burner. No where does it state wattage; it's just labelled, "120 volts, less than 3 amps." J.
This runs on standard 110/120 AC outlet. You only power a circuit board. HAROLD D. HOLLAND
wattage = voltage multiply by Amp 120 x 3 is 360 W. it operate with less than 3 amp so it would be less than 360 Watts.
We would not recommend using an outdoor unit in an area where temperatures get below freezing. You would need to contact Takagi directly in order to make modifications for altitudes higher than 6,000 feet.
I think Takagi has specified that the outdoor unit should not be sold where winter temperatures fall below an occasional +10 degrees. You'll probably want to ask Takagi themselves--they have a couple of U.S. 800 numbers. J.
This particular one needs to be wired to 110. I do not know if they make a battery start and that would be a brilliant idea. You should contact the company! J.T.
I think it would be difficult due to the piping for gas or propane. If DC can be converted to 120 AC, there is a possibility it could work. HAROLD D. HOLLAND
Not only the start is electric, but it also has an internal computer, a fan and a system that runs on electricity. It needs to be connected to a source of electrical power. 110V Eduardo
Is this unit going to be installed according to specs and vented properly, if not, I would not suggest it. HAROLD D. HOLLAND
You can use Takagi T-KJr. water heaters for closed-loop hydronic systems, but we would recommend the indoor model for use in colder climates.
Yes, I have more than 60 units for this use. Eduardo
