The ProLine XE 50-Gallon Atmospheric Vent Tall Natural Gas Water Heater with Flue Damper offers highly optimized performance and increased efficiency thanks its automatic flue damper and electronic gas control. The automatic flue damper increases efficiency as it automatically opens and closes to reduce heat loss in the standby mode. While the intelligent control logic provides enhanced operating parameters and tighter differentials for precise sensing and faster heating response to optimize performance. Note, power is required for this model.
Featuring a 50-gallon (nominal) tank and a 40,000 BTU gas burner, the GCF-50 standard vent delivers a first hour rating of 84 gallons and a recovery rate of 42 gallons per hour. With an 0.69 Uniform Energy Factor, this model carries a 6-year limited warranty, and meets Ultra-Low NOx emission requirements..
Environmentally-friendly insulation and factory-installed heat trap nipples reduce heat loss for maximum energy savings.
This ProLine XE water heater is designed with A. O. Smith's superior commercial-grade tank protection. Advanced tank features include stainless steel CoreGard anode rod, Blue Diamond glass lining and DynaClean automatic sediment-cleaning system, all designed to help protect the tank from the corrosive effects of water and extend the life of the water heater. This model also includes built-in Dry-Fire protection to protect the heating elements from damage during initial start up. All of these features are accompanied by a 6-year limited tank warranty.

A lot of value for the money
Replaced my 15 year old A.O. Smith water heater with the GCF-50 which came with a magnesium anode rode. Water heats up quicker in this model & the automatic flue damper keeps heat from escaping while in stand-by mode. The ring filter at the base of the unit is nice touch as is the "view port" for viewing the flame. Had an orange flame for 10 minutes but A.O. Smith customer service it was just the result of cleaning solvents burning off. The flame is blue all the time now.
I added a custom drain pan which drains into the existing T&P Relief valve drain line to the outside as well as a Thermal Expansion Tank. Incorporated a heat trap with 24-inch BrassCraft flexible copper hoses (sweat x FPT).

EASY TO INSTALL,SAME HEIGHT AS THE OLD ONE SO EVERYTHING FIT
Hello, its just for hot water, my old one was one that was purchased after the storm [sandy] which covered the first floor with 20 inches of water and every thing went under. with the new water heater i can take a shower and the dish washer can be on and some can be shaving up stairs and the hot is aways there. good investment.
