I would purchase this again

I got the lowest price plus free shipping and delivery was very fast. Installation was very simple. All I need was just replaced the water line and I am ready to lightt the water heater. Do not worry if it does not light up since it has to wait a while for the gas to fill up the chamber and it should be ok. Water heater is quiet and it seems to be high quality. I hope it will last a while. I will try to drain the water every year as part of the maintenace. I highly recommend it.

Absolute Trash

Bought this model in December 2015. In April 2022 the thing needs replaced. Of course 4 months and a few days past the 6 year warranty. That is a ridiculously short lifespan. Investigate further for a better brand than this junk.

Highly recommended water hear

I purchased my water heater back in 2017. It's a great water heater, and has worked flawlessly so far. I've replaced two Anode rods since I installed it, which was very easy to change. My last A.O. Smith water heater before the one I installed in 2017, lasted 18 years and that was without changing the Anode rod. I expect my latest A.O. Smith water heater to last longer, since I've been changing the Anode rod every 2-3 years.

Great replacement for my GCV-50

The GCG-50 fit perfectly in place of my AO Smith GCV-50. The new water heater arrived quickly and in good condition. Fired up right away and my family and I have been enjoying hot consistent water

Not so much for the product but for the service itself

My old water heater has been on borrowed time for many years. It lasted 15.5 years of me living here, plus a few months that it was in the home prior to me purchasing it, so let's call it 16 years. Only maintenance I did to it was a thermocouple. No anode rod, no annual drain, no t&p valve replacement, nothing. On Tuesday night, it finally got fed up with years of neglect and started puking out. Luckily, I was in the basement cleaning up and saw it before it got more than about 16oz of water on the floor. *End scene* Placed the order for this tank on Tuesday, received it promptly the next day. They gave me two time windows, I chose the latter. The customer service was great. I mean, online ordering is what it is, but the people I spoke with for delivery and the subsequent phonecall I received after delivery to check and see if it arrived in good condition were both great. The fact that I could place an order before 6pm and have this thing to my door by morning is fantastic. Installation is installation - 2 copper pipes and a few gas pipe pieces, a little teflon tape and some gas pipe goo and you're back up and running. I did cut my finger on the new flue cap they sent, but that was AO, not supplyhouse. The unit is quiet, the water is hot, most of the stuff to hook it up was within close proximity of the old unit. There's not much else that can be said about a water heater. I find it funny that my old unit was an American water heater proline and this unit is an AO Smith proline, to find out AO owns american, so it's like I'm still in the same family. 5 stars all around. Thanks, supplyhouse.

Would buy again

The NG water heater in my home started leaking at the bottom and was rusty. It had been in service for 20 years. Checked the brand...A.O. Smith. Replaced it with an A.O. Smith. Arrived on schedule within a few days and was easy to install. Was the same footprint as the old WH. Very pleased.

Easy to install and working great

Arrived in perfect condition. Easy install. Took about a minute to get the gas into the system to start it. Nice hot water and no rust in the hot water system like we had before! Very happy so far. Love supplyhouse.

Standard Stuff - Good Quality

This LP water heater was shipped from a warehouse in Jersey and got to a trans-shipping warehouse within 30 miles of my house, and then sat for 5 days until delivery. Nevertheless, it arrived in good order and without any dings or major scratches. Installing any gas (LP or NAT) WH is not for an inexperienced DIYer. There are lots of ways you can kill yourself and/or your entire family if you don't know what you are doing (gas leaks, CO leaks from venting). But, if you DO know what you are doing, it can be done with two people (to lift and haul!). Most code now requires a drain pan and suitable floor drainage, so don't forget to order that stuff. Also, please don't dump your old WH on the side of interstate - take it to a local dump that takes scrap metal! As for the unit - I'm not sure whether the "Proline" has any real difference from AO Smith ordinary models, but this one seems well made, with a Honeywell gas/pilot control and solid construction.
