The Honeywell AM-1 series accurately adjusts, maintains and limits the hot water temperature to a desired setting selected by the user. In domestic water applications it offers scalding protection and bacteria growth control. By installing a Honeywell AM-1 mixing valve and raising water heater storage temperature setting and limiting mixed outlet water temperature to safe temperature more usable hot water is available. In heating applications it provides comfort and protects the equipment.

Works as advertised. Great Product
Used in place of old Taco "tempering" valve on my oil burner. This valve works great and mixes the hot water way better than the old fixed valve. The union connection makes installation and future repair/replacement a snap. The washers were very heavy duty. I bought a spare. This is a great heat range (up to 140F). This let's you set the outlet temp a little higher than 120, if you have a long run in the house and have some heat loss The included thermostrip worked great. Best of all this works for potable water applications! Overall Pex has the best price and way fast shipping. Customer service was great.

These appear to be fine, but ...
The Resideo-Braukmann version of the original Honeywell has one change that is notable; the check valves are flush rather than flanged. This requires destructive removal if one intends to speed up de-calcification for rebuilding. It also impacts hot-to-cold union spacing by a couple of gasket thicknesses, so this might matter with rigid plumbing.

Q: Is it normal for the mixing valve to generate noise when mixing? It's a rattle noise, very pronounced when only one faucet is in use. It seems to go away when the water flow is high ( multiple faucets )
