SBTL54 Insert is required when making a connection to PEX. A PEX to PEX connection requires (2) SBTL54 Inserts, one for each end. This insert is sold separately.
Underground burial of SharkBite brass fittings requires that the fitting be wrapped using silicone wrap (25406A).
SharkBite Large Diameter Elbows allow the user to connect any combination of Copper, PEX CPVC, PE-RT, and HDPE pipe together to form a 90-degree connection. With no soldering, clamps, unions or glue required, it’s as simple as inserting the pipe into the fitting deep enough to be sealed by our specially-formulated O-ring. Once inserted, the stainless steel teeth bite down and grip the pipe. This push-to-connect fitting is designed for potable water and radiant heating (including underground or behind-the-wall) applications with no access panels required. It is rated up to 200°F and 200 psi.

Great in boiler primary loop
Requires the use of the de-mount clip, but the mechanism of the new 2XL clips is so much better than the de-mount c-Clip for the smaller Sharkbites. It actually slides onto the fitting and uses a sort of "twist-to-unlock" sort of function to release the stainless teeth inside.
I am using it on the primary loop of my wood boiler (165F) in place of a 1-1/4" copper tee AND a 1-1/4" union (or 2...!) which would really add up $$.
This tee is much bigger than the 1-1/4" copper tee both in diameter and socket length but you gain the functionality of that union which would add more length.

Q: 1. Can the Sharkbite fittings be used to adapt to PVC pipe, as used in sprinkler systems ? 2. Do the larger size fittings, ie 1-1/4", work like the smaller sizes as far as being able to remove and reuse ?

Verified Reply- PexSupply StaffSharkBite fittings only work with copper, PEX, and CPVC, which all have the same outside diameters. They would not work with PVC pipe. You can remove and reuse SharkBite 2XL fittings. The 1-1/4" removal tool is part SBDC35.
