The Taco Model 008 Cartridge Circulator is designed for a wide range of residential and light commercial, higher-head water circulating applications. Available in cast iron or bronze construction-Bronze can be used in higher-head heat recovery, water source heat pumps, open-loop solar heat and domestic water recirculation systems. Unique, replaceable cartridge contains all of the moving parts so you can service it easily instead of replacing the entire unit. Compact, direct-drive, low-power consumption design is ideal for high efficiency jobs.

Upgraded a 007 Pump
I have three Taco 007 Cartridge Circulators in a radiant heat system. One circuit was just too long and didn't get much flow from the 007. The 008 is a direct replacement. It really improved the flow rate. The only difference with the 007 is the cartridge. I could have just swapped the 007 cartridge with a 008 cartridge and left the original 007 base, outer case an electrical components.

Works well but is noisy.
I wanted more flow in my circulating hot water baseboard heating system. A recently installed new furnace has a greater pressure drop than my 30 year old furnace resulting in lower flow rate and the slower heating of my house. So, I replaced my 007 pump with a 008 pump, which provided more flow. But unfortunately the new 008 pump produced a whining noise throughout the house when the pump is operating. TACO said "the 008 has a higher head capacity meaning it can push more water thru the same piping system, the caveat is it is usually associated with more noise due to higher head pressure".
Bummer.

used for a zone circulator pump on a radiant floor heating system having issues with one zpne not pulling with the oo7 pump so upgraded to the 008 and it took care of the issue they both have the same body length and connection allowing a straight transfer of pumps within about 15 mins of work. taco makes a great series of pumps

This product works
This pump does a good job for me however the last one started to make a loud whining sound after about a year. The new one is now installed and working perfectly and quietly. Time will tell whether the noisiness comes back or not.

This is a great product
I really appreciated the worksheet that allowed me to plug in all the specs for the system I was building and then get the correct pump. The pump is quiet and very efficient. It gets cold here in Utah and my hydronic heating system in my garage is essential. I love how this pump allows me to get to a toasty 155 degree operating temp in the system that outputs lots of wonderful warm air.
