Quick and easy.

Well the product is pretty self explanatory. It was shipped quickly, arrived on time, was packaged well and was simple to install. It replaced the old one that was there for 12+ years and the diaphragm had holed through causing the tank to fill completely with water. The hardest part was checking and charging the air preassure ti the required 15 psi for my system. Mainly because I don't have a digital air preassure gadge.

Almost 5 Year Lifespan

I like the design with the clear schrader cap and all. But good thing it's there because you'll need it. Also have found it needs about 5psi added each year. Meh

Q: I currently have a 70 gallon water tank and an Extrol #15. Will the #30 replace and should i use the larger size? This is the seocond one that has rusted out in 4 years. Any reasons why they are rusting out?

This expansion tank is only designed to be used on closed heating systems (those that are closed to the atmosphere at all points). Open heating systems or plumbing systems will cause these these types of expansion tanks to rust. Perhaps that is the issue.

According to the manufacturer, you should check the air vents to make sure they are working properly. If there is air in the pipes, you need to bleed the air out.

You will need an expansion tank if there is a back flow preventer installed on the system.

Q: Is it necessary to install the tank under an air scoop with air eliminator? I have an air eliminator on another part of the system (actually more than one) and don't really have room to mount this tank in-line with the air-scoop-eliminator fitting (which costs more than the tank), but rather on a dead-end pipe(despite mfgr's suggestion to the contrary). Any foreseeable problems? (I'm replacing a 30 gal plain steel ceiling-mounted tank).

No, you do not have to install the expansion tank under the air scoop/air eliminator.

No its not necessary to install it under an air scoop or eliminator. Its just a convenient place to put it instead of branching off somewhere. The farther the tank is from your system the less it absorbs the shock.

You are correct: water is blocked from this valve by the bladder.

Q: I have a cgm-4 weil mclain boiler. On start up, the pressure is set at about 12 lbs. in system. When system reach is temp. of 190 degrees, its about 17 lbs. I know expansion tank is set at 12 lbs and relief is set at 30 lbs. Is this normal for a hot water boiler? Thanks

Yes, this is normal. Remember that as you heat up the water, the water will expand in the system, so your pressure will increase as well.
