Easy to work with - if you can get them in one piece!

The baseboards of all lengths are fairly easy to work with, although having them arrive assembled is no advantage since they have to be disassembled to install. The primary problem seems to be getting them without the heater core being smashed up against the brackets inside the unit in shipping. Straightening the fins on each bracket on each core is time consuming and could be avoided with a big more secure packaging. They solder to gether easily, and operate smoothly as long as the wall they are attached to is straight, or as long as you compensate for irregularities when installing. The only design problem seems to be that the brackets that hold both the heater core and adjustable vent are bendable, and getting them spread to just the right distance to hold the face plate, which is just sprung into place and held by tension, can be a bit challenging. The cover plates, joint covers, corner corners, etc. all fit nicely and install without a hassle, and they look great as a finished product.

Sharp and Easy to install

I needed to remodel my kitchen so I decided to go with these upgrades. I would of probably gave this product a five-star but further more it had its issues. Other than I score supplyhouse much in deed a five star for the fast service and availability. At first I was going to order half the items at my local homedepot but I decided to save time and spend more money for a couple of items that homedepot had at a lower cost. Everything was delivered to my door with no delays. Some fins did off course had ding and bends which it made it hard to straighten with even the most thin mechanics gloves. Got a couple of cuts on my fingers here and there but again I managed. Is your discretion to what you wanna order, I took the chance and that's what I received. I did read they come in all defected ways but I took it upon myself thinking I would be lucky.

The packaging is poor.

The packaging of these units (on slant fins part) is not sufficient for them to be shipped and thrown around by UPS. All the units I ordered had damaged fins where they were able to move within the box. Supplyhouse used a ton of bubble packing around the cardboard containers but if the inner container isnt sufficently padded, the outer packaging wont do anything.

Arrived damaged

The fins on the heating element were munched in 3 places and there was a slight dent in the cover. The box looked fine. Returning it would have delayed my project too much. It'll work fine but it's disappointing.

Would look for an alternative if I started over

I bought 9 sections of fineline baseboard in various lengths, every one had some sort of damage. The boxes and packaging from Supply House looked good, I think the flaw was with Slant/Fin. The elements are not secured in the cases for shipping, so there are bent fins from rattling around. Multiple housings had minor dents, scratches, and bends. None of the damage is so bad that I'm returning it, but I expect better from any decent manufacturer. Purchasing and delivery from Supply House were great, arrived in 48 hours.

Yes

The baseboard works great and looks great. Clean modern look. The shipping of this product from the Supply House was the issue. They got it right the 4th time. Very poorly packed. Very significant damage. The 4th shipment I finally got something I could use after it was properly package for shipment. Supply House does great with all their products. This is the first one I've had trouble with. But they made it good.

Very poor manufacturer packaging- doesnt protect radiators

Ordered 6 of the 5' slantfin radiators. Slantfin PD has no idea how to protect the product for shipping- esp UPS/Fedex handling. The metal brackets to support the tubes actually destroy the fins and metal covers during shipping. All 6 had signs of damage- bent coverplates, interior support braces bent out of the frames, dented metal/paint from rubbing/shipping. I had one sent to replace the totally destroyed one and was told by contractor it would take 1 hour extra to fix all the bent fins/panels(it took 2 hours). Now I have to have him send me an extra invoice to break out the extra labor if I want reimbursment. Copper tube was very thin as well, so bent that back into place to solder. What a pain and distraction from the job getting done fast. Buy the radiators local is my recommendation. Oh- and you dont need to buy the splice plate for between straight radiator runs, one comes in each box with the radiator(albeit scratched up and bent so I needed the extra I ordered)

Q: I would like to install a single unit using compression fittings (like SharkBite fittings). Will these fittings fit on this unit? If not, can you recommend one that would work or is there a way to modify the unit so it could accept this?

Yes, the unit can accept 3/4" Sharkbite fittings. Keep in mind you will have to cut back and deburr the element on the female sweat side of the element in order to connect the other sharkbite.

Hello, I have been using shark bites on my baseboards for 4 years - no problems to date. You do have to cut the copper on one side of the baseboard - as it is flanged.

Q: I have slant fin in the home I just purchased and remodeling. I may need a couple more units. How do I tell the model of the existing units? House was built in 1967 but I'm not sure when the slant fin units were installed, looks like 1967. Does it matter which model I use to add to my system?

It is unlikely the exact model installed in your home is still available. While the new models will not properly connect to the old ones end-to-end, they will work the same if installed elsewhere in the system without a problem.

Q: I have a 43" (3'7") length radiator. What length should I purchase or is it sold at all. The home was built in 1942?

The baseboard is sold in fixed lengths. You may want to purchase the 4 ft length. The baseboard unit panel and element can then be carefully cut to fit the length needed for your installation size.

Q: Can the Fine/line baseboard heaters be connected from behind the wall instead of through the floor? They will be installed on a basement floor.

Yes, the connectors at each end accept elbows that can be turned in any direction.

The outlet/inlet are straight out (parallel to the length), you add the fitting which can be any, tee, reducer, elbow etc., for the direction you need. Another words you can use it with the basement floor underneath. Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4G LTE DROID

Q: This radiator compatible to potable water system?

The materials of construction would be compatible with potable water as the element is made of copper tubing. Can you be more specific regarding the application of the radiator within a potable water system?

Was this review helpful to you?
-

Yes, most hot water heating systems are initially filled with potable water anyway and any make up water connections are to the potable water system (with the appropriate backflow prevention device).

We do offer metal escutcheons which can seal the gap around pipes exiting the floor. However these are solid and can only be installed at the same time as the pipe. They would not retrofit an existing system. http://www.supplyhouse.com/Escutcheons-728000

Q: My current baseboard plumbing has both in and out pipes coming up from the same place in the floor, the IN pipe runs over and curves back and connect to element, then to OUT pipe. The effect is two pipes, one with element, in the baseboard housing. Will this model work in that situation?

No problem, pretty common installation for base board heat both residential and commercial.

Yes. The element is not directional so pipe it however is easiest. Sent from the Samsung Galaxy Rugby Pro, an AT&T LTE smartphone
